The Audience Can Feel Jatindranath Mukherjee Through The Dev.

'Bagha Jatin' is based on Jatindranath Mukherjee's life. Basically it is a Biographical History film. Except for the motion of the film, nice to see the rest.

This film directed by Arun Roy. As always his direction is good this time too. Some scenes under his direction are very beautifully described in this movie. Written by Sounava Bose. Some special dialogues written by him made the film beautiful. The Cinematographer Gopi Bhagat's cinematography should be mentioned separately which is really good.

Nilayan Chatterjee is the Music Director of this film. The songs of this film are good . But we had to pay attention separately about the Background Score which is sometimes very slow. So some moments you feel bored.

Talking about performances, Dev (Bagha Jatin) is outstanding in this cinema. His acting is very noticeable and mind blowing. The audience can feel Jatindranath Mukherjee through the Dev. Carl A Harte (Charles Tegart), Sreeja Dutta (Jatindranath's Wife), Samiul Alam (Khudiram Bose), Sudipta Chakraborty (Binodbala) portrayed their characters very well. Other supporting casts are also good.

Poor execution of a Brilliant Historic Character

War of Independence won with Bravery and Emotion and the whole movie doesn't depict that emotion anywhere . Dev tried but failed miserably due to poor script and dialogue and acting. The director should have done research to put Historical facts of this noble man than loosely couple few incidents. Some of the incidents are absolutely incorrectly depicted , for example Rodda Arms Heist , it was one of key incident lead by Srish Mukherjee and they have shown in completely wrong . Mr Supratim Sarkar narrated in details mentioned as "The Greatest Daylight Robbery" in his book , Ochena Lalbazar. Also the pistols were not Rodda Made , It was made by Mauser of Germany Model C96 Broomhandle of .30 caliber which was used by Bagha Jatin in the final war of Buribalam. They didnt showed that and all the arms shown were Toy. Period films needs a lot of research and they really failed miserably , From Props to Dress to Set everything is so wrong . The background music is worthless and creates no impact to Audience , they could have easily replaced that with Rabindra Sangeet or Dwijendra or Najrul Geeti which could have created a deeper emotional impact. In one word , I would have really expect a Film based on historic facts to pay homage to Great Freedom Fighter Bagha Jatin , but highly disappointed.

It's director's fault

Jatindranath Mukherjee aka Bagha Jatin deserves highest respect and movie also attempted same but as a movie it failed on many fronts. First of all it is over cliched on many fronts. Writer presented story at shallow level and it clearly appeared that he did not worked hard to research and dig deeper. Both writer and director look ameteurs. Movie was created just for the sake of creating it. It had nothing to hook your attention throughout. There were many interesting historical events but were presented in over simplimisitic and banal manner. Director should watch movies like Udham Singh to know where does he stand. In short, the story had the potential but inept writer and director failed to do justice with that.

It was indeed an amazing approach

Idk about others but for me it was a pretty nice movie... all the emotions and dialogs are delivered nicely...People nowadays love to watch romance and stuff .... i feel like people need to understand and apriciate the approach they are doing.. So many youngsters have no idea about our own history it would be a great opportunity to make them understand about our motherland... As a popular actor Dev is taking the initiative to make this type of movies it is really impressive.. Nothing is perfect i will never say this is the perfect movie ever but it was a great movie from their side me and my brother really enjoyed and we had a conversation over this topic as well as he had less knowledge about this topic..

Worst Film

The makers of 'Bagha Jatin' just uses the big patriotic name to pull the emotion of audience, but they failed miserably. The soul of the film is missing due to flat screenplay & dull narrative. The performance of Dev in the title role of Bagha Jatin is very poor. His pronunciation is horrible. He is totally misfit for this role. Then come to the writing, there are too many misleading information in this film. We all know Bagha jatin died on 1915. Why can he use the car of the 1930's? Is this the level of the research work of director Arun Roy? Everything is wrong with this film. The persona of Bagha jatin mismatches with the presentation. The vision of director does not gel with the masala treatment of this film. But I must say the vfx & editing department tried their best. But I'm sorry this movie disappoints mature and commercial movie lover both.

A brave attempt

"Bagha Jatin," directed by Arun Roy, comprises an ensemble cast. Dev plays the titular role, while debutant Sreeja Dutta plays the role of Indubala, and Sudipta Chakraborty plays the role of Binodbala . The film strikes a perfect balance between class and mass moments. The action sequences are well choreographed, and despite subpar VFX (considering the film's budget is only 5 crore), it's relatively negligible. The screenplay of the first half is very engaging, but the second half feels rushed. The music and background score by Nilayan Chatterjee are top-notch, and Gopi Bhagat's cinematography is an absolute delight for the eyes. The film introduces many lesser-known or completely unknown historical characters. If you're a history enthusiast, you'll remain engaged throughout the film. Returning to the acting department, Dev delivers his career-best performance without a doubt. Sudipta Chakraborty is an ace actor, with her subtle contributions enriching the film. Debutant Sreeja is excellent in her limited screen time. Other important characters are portrayed by numerous stage and debutant actors who gave their heart and soul to their roles. However, there are some factual errors in the film, and the narration could have been much better. The scene with the tiger falls flat, which could have been the film's highlight. The high points of the film were poorly executed. Overall, it's a brave attempt that deserves box office success. I recommend going to your nearest theater to watch it; you won't be disappointed.

A 3rd Class Film

One word review 'ridiculous'.

There is a lot of unnecessary things in this movie, but no emotion, the makers tried to pull it forcefully with loud bgm, but they don't try to follow a proper craft. Actually they wants to use the fame of Bagha Jatin but failed. Probably they don't know who is 'Bagha Jatin'. He deserves highest respect and movie also attempted same but as a movie it failed on many fronts. First of all it is over cliched on many fronts. Writer presented story at shallow level and it clearly appeared that he did not worked hard to research and dig deeper. Both writer and director look ameteurs. The POV of director & production team did not gel. Movie was created just for the sake of creating it. It had nothing to hook your attention throughout. There were many interesting historical events but were presented in over simplimisitic and banal manner. Director should watch movies like Udham Singh to know where does he stand. Producers thought that they would make a 'RRR', what a stupid thinking!

In short, the story had the potential but inept writer and director failed to do justice with that. The major blunder occurred in casting. Dev in the role of Bagha Jatin' can't believable. He was incorrigible. His dialogue delivery was disgusting. Parallelly the other actors also disappointed me.

Everybody is there except Bagha Jatin. There is one character who is disguising as Bagha Jatin.

I am very sorry, but, Dev needs more time to portray a chacter like Bagha Jatin. He has become a superstar and has earned so much that he can take the responsibility of producing these movies. He should stick to his acting in commercial cinemas he has been doing in his earlier days. He should avoid characters like Bomkesh and Jatin Das. These characters should be left for Anirban, Abir and Param or may be Saswata Chatterjee. Dev is a good dancer, he has a very good physique. But, he is not at all an actor. He should concentrate only those movies where he can use is strengths. Everybody is there in the movie except Bagha Jatin. There is one character who is disguising as Bagha Jatin.

Honest, Blunt, Upfront, Unbiased & Impartial One-Liner Review

Poorest Cinematography of #GopiBhagat till date ( with lots of jerky steady frames, irrelevant camera movements and off-focus preference shots ), Sloth Editing, Dragging Screenplay with a Mundane Narrative Style. Unnecessary usage of Background Commentary by #MirAfsarAli and Animation just to forcibly make it look like a Docu-Fiction. #Dev tries to steal the show eclipsing others, but under no circumstances, it is justified to design the action sequences of pre-independence era in such a fashion, that it looks like someone Dev, Amitabh, SRK or any Tom Cruise is performing. Of course, Bagha Jatin was no less than a Superhero but the tiger sequence and the other fight sequences were shot like a XBox Video Game. Very poor execution ! Apart from #SudiptaChakraborty in her body language and dialogue delivery style, none of the actors have done justice to their characters. Everyone were playing like their original selves. Noone has got into the skin of their characters to be very honest, blunt and specific. But, somehow the theater actors bunch has tried to put some effort, but couldn't able to catapult the project as a whole, whatever justification or clarification they might put forward. Director #ArunRoy highly disappoints this time for falling into the trap of consumerism and superstar glamour for making such a dud by superstar producer and trying to make his project way more saleable, which is even way worse than his previous films. U may skip it this time, if u haven't seen it yet.

Real and Reel Both Bengal Tigers are roaring

Bhagha Jatin named as Jatindranath Mukherjee is one of the prominent freedom fighters of our Country. Jatindranath Mukherjee killed a tiger in almost bare hand and popularly named as Bagha Jatin and even almost three decades before Subhas Chandra Bose , Bagha Jatin thought to free India with the help of German who was as usual opponent of British in the First World War. But he was not succeed and sacrificed his life just at the age of thirty five for the freedom of our mother land. Now popular Bengali actor Dev brings life of Bhagha Jatin in Silver screen in both Bengali and Hindi version. It is an undoubtedly great attempt by the Actor Dev who is also a producer of the film. Work and sacrifices of Bhagha Jatin superbly portrayed in the screen. As an actor Dev almost single handedly shoulders this film .He is good enough in building emotion and his strong Zone of execution of action, he is superb particularly action scenes against British loyals as well as against tiger. The films contain various massy elements where this mass superstar truly eats it. Music as well as Background music are extremely good. In Bengal, there is always constraints of budget due to lower market level, so VFX may be better. But as an actor and producer Dev has given his 200 percent. This film should be seen by not only every Bengalees but also every Indian.

Good Approach

It's really a well made movie, atleast better than ganpath, yaariya 2 . So, it will be a better option I guess . Dev really have done a good job . Director Arun Roy well researched and the music of Nilanjan sir is very good . Vfx and Cgi is poor but you can feel the story what the movie want to show . I was curious about the tiger fight scene but that scene had poor vfx actually it was not Dev's fault, it was director's fault . Dev's disguise looks was so amazing . Sometime for the flat screenplay movie become boring but the climax scene made me goosebumps . In the end when the song 'Asbo phire' played in theater I got emotional . It is a family friendly must watch movie.

Bravo! Dev is in his usual rocking form. Captivated.

Vande Maataram. Finally the film industry has attempted to address the life of the legendary freedom fighter Bagha Jatin (Jatindranath Mukherjee). None of this would have been possible without the sincere efforts of Dev. I am truly impressed by the dedication and effort that he has put in to reward the audience with this historic film. It is indeed tragic that neither the state governments of the past nor any other film-maker has ever bothered to do justice to the lives of these tigers of the freedom struggle who gave their lives improvising and fighting to win us freedom from the yoke of colonial oppressors.

The film is brilliant in tackling the the challenge of touching upon the lives of a great many freedom fighters while not stealing the thunder of the titular character. A true work of art in which the sincerity of the producers and the directors in adeptly distributing and planning the screentime and sequences is clearly evident. Highly impressed. The cast too is highly talented. Special mention must be made of Rohan Bhattacharya, Sreeja Dutta and certainly, the Pied piper himself, the man with a dream , our very own Dev Sir. Thank you for standing against all odds and making this dream of every Indian a reality. Hey Beer , Hey Bagha Jatin, Jatindranath Mukherjee, Bangalir praanpurush, Loho pronaam.

Perfect blend of mass and class

Bagha Jatin is a perfect blend of mass and class. Dev delivers emotional depth and showcases his action skills, especially in battles against the British and a tiger. He brings that mass superstar charm and screen presence that we haven't seen from him in years. The film incorporates various massy elements where he truly shines. Dev brings Jatindranath Mukherjee to life, and this may be his best entry scene since 'Challenge.'

The music and background score are top-notch which creates a big impact. The rest of the cast complements Dev quite well. Arun Roy, once again, proves himself as the go-to director for historical biopics. The story covers ideology, politics, and a formidable villain. His vision and scale are reflected in every frame and action. Bagha Jatin is a cinematic gem in the Bengali film industry that truly shines on the big screen.

In today's day and age of family dramas and detective films in Bengal, movies with such vision deserve appreciation. Dev's maturity and commitment to the role, both as an actor and producer, are evident and remarkable.
