Host Bradley Walsh has previous connections to the show, having taken part in a "Celebrities vs Jockeys", a special of the programme in 1997.

Evan though there is a gladiator named Giant (6ft 5), he is not however the tallest gladiator. Both Apollo and Bionic are 6ft 6.

Two of the female Gladiators were injured during the filming of the first series. Comet sustained several bone fractures on her legs in several places when competing in her speciality event Hang Tough in Heat 4. Sabre also injured her hamstring as a result of her attempt to push contender Bronte off The Edge in Semi-Final 1. Due these incidents both of the Gladiators had to go on hiatus from the series.

The youngest Gladiator cast on the lineup is Dynamite at the age of 21.

The show features a lineup of new Gladiators, while no gladiators shares their names with any Gladiators from the original UK ITV series and the 2008 reboot, several others share their names with those from international series.
