- 100Film ThreatBobby LePireFilm ThreatBobby LePireSunlight is delightful, dramatic, and deep all at once. The pacing is excellent, and the screenplay is clever. Conti and Allen bring a great deal of sweetness and vulnerability to their respective roles. The ending is about as perfect as conclusions get. Please watch this as soon as possible, you won’t be disappointed.
- Nina Conti’s delightfully crude and disarmingly heartwarming directorial debut, “Sunlight,” adds an intriguing hook to the two-wayward-souls-on-a-road-trip subgenre.

- 70Screen RantGrant HermannsScreen RantGrant HermannsWhile I wish the movie's tone and story were a little more even, there's definitely enough here for many to enjoy.
- 70Film ThreatAlex SavelievFilm ThreatAlex SavelievA mostly-smooth, sometimes-uneasy blend of pitch-black drama and absurdist comedy, Sunlight may follow the age-old “road-trip movie” structure, but it fully commits to an offbeat, non-sequitur style/logic that will either compel or repel audiences.
- 60The New York TimesNicolas RapoldThe New York TimesNicolas RapoldA little of Sunlight, which she directs and co-wrote with Allen, goes a long way. But there’s still something to seeing a performer go for broke, purging a character’s shame and despair through a screwy, confessional sense of humor.
- 50Screen DailyTim GriersonScreen DailyTim GriersonUneven but not without its charming, touching and even kinky moments, the film salutes the oddballs lucky enough to find like-minded souls – but the story’s invitingly bizarre vibe isn’t captivating enough to overcome some clear narrative flaws.
