A Surprisingly Fun Watch That Deserves a Chance

Loveyapa turned out to be a pleasant surprise! Despite the harsh reviews, the film was far from being a disaster. It had its flaws, sure, but it also had genuinely funny moments and a charming simplicity that made it enjoyable. Watched it with absolutely no expectations, and maybe that's what worked in its favor. The humor was light-hearted and relatable, and the performances had an endearing quality. It doesn't try to be something it's not - just a breezy, one-time watch that delivers some laughs and keeps things entertaining. If you're in the mood for something silly and fun, Loveyapa might just do the trick.

Refreshing Take on Social Media and GenZ Situations

Loveyappa turned out better than I expected with its fresh take on how social media affects modern situations and everyday struggles. I feel like the film does a good job exploring issues like trust, body shaming, and deep fakes while showing how GenZ is super active online but often disconnected in real life. The contrast between their digital and real world image is shown well.

Kiku Sharda's emotional scene fits in nicely with the story and adds depth to the film's light hearted tone. Ashutosh Rana's performance was solid as usual just like he always delivers. The story and execution are engaging, but I think if the lead cast was stronger, it could have been even better. Overall, Loveyappa is a simple, feel good movie that today's digital generation can easily relate to.

A Hollow and Unconvincing Remake

Loveyapa is a disappointing remake that fails to capture the charm and authenticity of the original Love Today. Having seen the Tamil version, this adaptation feels like a pale shadow, weighed down by stiff performances and overly polished production design that strips away the relatability of the story.

The biggest flaw lies in the lead performances, particularly Junaid Khan, whose portrayal lacks the natural charisma and emotional range needed for the role. His stiff and awkward delivery makes it difficult to connect with the character's struggles, especially when compared to Pradeep's engaging and dynamic performance in the original. The chemistry between the leads also falls flat, making crucial emotional moments feel forced and unconvincing.

Adding to the movie's problems is the production design. The sets are overly polished and fail to reflect the story's intended middle-class backdrop. In contrast to the grounded, everyday realism of the original, this version feels artificial and disconnected from reality. This detachment undermines the narrative's core themes, which rely heavily on relatability and emotional honesty.

While Love Yappa remains structurally faithful to its source material, the execution feels hollow and insincere. The heart and soul of the original-a story about relationships, trust, and personal growth-are lost amid lifeless performances and an overly glossy presentation. Rather than improving or adapting the story in a meaningful way, the film merely replicates it without any of the charm or depth that made the original a hit.

If you're considering watching Love Yappa, you're better off seeking out the Tamil version instead. It's a far more engaging, heartfelt experience and a testament to how much strong performances and grounded storytelling matter in a film like this.

Great fun!! Good script!!

I went in to watch this movie without any expectations. This turned out to be a surprise, actually a very funny movie. Both the debutant actors did not disappoint at all. The script is very funny, with good punchy dialogues. The script keeps you engaged and is slick. I did not know how did two hours went by. The male lead does justice to his role and the female lead does not disappoint for her debut movie. The character artists do justice to their roles as well. Overall, a well directed movie, which does justice to the story and is fun to watch scene after scene. I had great fun and would surely recommended it!

Melo drama is missing who attract now days

One couple love each other , share everything they think like that.

Again girl's father don't like boy they said exchange your for 24 hours and after that if you want to marry I have no objection.

But after exchanging the phone blunders come one by one.

At the end they marry or breka up what happened with them you need to watch.

As new comer both are just good.

Grusha Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana played well in their role.

Screen play need some melo drama because now days audience like south indian masala.

It's for multiplex audiences not for single screen or masses.

One more thing this is remake of south indian movie.

this is GOOD!!!

Honestly saying, I am really shocked.

Loveyapa is a remake of a south indian movie that I adore, so when i got to know that bollywood was making a remake of love today, I had sort of mixed reactions.

When this movie released in theatres, I was up to see what the makers had done, but the reviews made it seem as if this movie was completely awful, which is why when my elder brother was going to the theater to watch this movie and asked me to come , I did not go. However when my brother came back he told me that this movie was amazing and that i should watch this when it comes to ott, and I did and I REGRETTED not watching this movie in the theater.

This movie is absolutely amazing, screw the people who say this movie is awful, screw the people who say the 2 leading actors are awful.

The 2 leading actors speaking of which are soo damn good! I dont understand why people dont appreciate them at the least...

THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING. DON'T MISS IT AT ANY COST. AVAILABLE ON JIO HOTSTAR.

Feel good watch

A one-time enterntaining and fun watch. The story is simple and common, yet the storytelling amazed me most. The comedic part were well-placed and didn't felt put through.

The story has some loopholes, but you can ignore it as the fun and laughter will forget that so. The movie contains some message to the society, regarding our online life, messy activity, social relationships and norms. It also tells us about the line between fun and messyness.

Actors did their job perfectly, though side characters don't had much to offer, lead casts carried the whole story. The technical sides of this movie is rich, and you can sooth your eyes with various colours and smoothness.

Weak leads in an uneven Film.

Advait Chandan's Loveyapa is a rom-com with an uneven screenplay. The film has its moments, with some humor working well, while the supporting cast -especially Kullu, Kiku Sharda, and Grusha Kapoor -bring in the right emotional elements. However, both Junaid and Khushki look totally misfit, and their chemistry feels awkward, making the film emotionally shallow. Ashutosh Rana is good, but the "Shudh-Hindi" trope becomes cliché at times.

Devishi, Yuktam, and others provide good support.

Advait does a decent job as a director, but the film has little to offer due to its weak leads. A below average film that needed better actors.

OVERALL - 2/10.

Lot better than expectation

"Loveyapa" is a delightful romantic comedy that offers a fresh perspective on modern love in the digital age. Junaid Khan delivers a standout performance as Gaurav, showcasing his versatility and depth as an actor. His portrayal brings authenticity and charm to the character, making the audience root for him throughout the film. The chemistry between Junaid and co-star Khushi Kapoor is palpable, adding to the film's overall appeal. "Loveyapa" successfully combines humor and heart, making it a must-watch for fans of contemporary romance. Watched it with zero expectations and enjoyed a lot. The film's direction, music, and storytelling blend seamlessly, keeping viewers engaged from start to finish. Junaid Khan proves his talent with a heartfelt and natural performance, leaving a lasting impression.

Loveyapa Isn't Perfect, But It's Definitely Worth a Watch

After watching the trailer of Loveyapa, I was genuinely intrigued and eager to see the film. Having appreciated Junaid Khan's performance in Maharaj, my expectations were high. However, the film's lacklustre promotions, especially the social media backlash over Junaid's awkward dance steps, coupled with negative public and critical reception, initially dampened my enthusiasm.

Now that it has premiered on Disney+, I decided to give it a fair chance and I'm glad I did. I'm happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised.

Loveyapa is an easy, enjoyable watch. It's well-acted, nicely shot and features good music. The ensemble cast delivers solid performances throughout.

Junaid Khan gives a commendable performance. His character-a brash young Delhiite- stark contrast to his real-life persona, yet he portrays it convincingly. I wasn't expecting much from Khushi Kapoor, given her previous performance in "The Archies," but surprisingly, she shows marked improvement. She emotes well, particularly through her eyes and expressions. However, her diction and thick accent remain problematic; Hindi doesn't come naturally to her, and she'll need to work on this to have longevity in the industry.

The film itself isn't without issues. The story is uneven, riddled with plot holes, and occasionally crass, patriarchal, and misogynistic, typical of Bollywood. Still, it's more watchable than many recent big-budget franchises or hyper-nationalistic, star-heavy releases.

Yes, nepotism plays a role in casting (as it always has), but that's an industry reality, not unique to this movie. Privilege plays a role in who gets opportunities and while it may not be fair, it's reflective of broader societal structures.

Perhaps the film's underperformance stems from the growing resentment toward star kids. Critics like Anupama Chopra and Sucharita Tyagi, usually balanced, seemed unnecessarily harsh on this one. While Loveyapa is flawed, it's the second film for both leads and expecting perfection is unreasonable; it doesn't deserve such nitpicking.

Interestingly, the recent re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam and its cult following serve as a reminder that sometimes films are appreciated more in retrospect.

Overall, I recommend "Loveyapa" for a fun, and easy watch. Flaws aside, it's a step up from the mediocrity flooding theatres lately. I rate it a solid 7 out of 10.

Average as expected 🙃

Loveyapa, a movie that promised to deliver an unforgettable romantic experience, unfortunately, turned out to be hella average, with a predictable plot, lackluster character development, and uninspired dialogue that failed to capture the essence of true love, leaving viewers underwhelmed and unimpressed by its unoriginal storytelling and mediocre production quality that made it feel like just another forgettable film in the romantic genre, lacking the emotional depth, complexity, and nuance that makes a truly great romantic movie.

From the opening scene, it was clear that Loveyapa was going to be a formulaic, by-the-numbers romance, with a meet-cute between the two leads that felt forced and contrived, rather than organic and natural, setting the tone for a movie that would rely on tired cliches and overused tropes rather than trying to break new ground or offer a fresh perspective on love and relationships.

The characters themselves were also poorly developed, with the leads feeling more like cardboard cutouts than fully fleshed-out people, lacking the depth, complexity, and nuance that makes characters feel real and relatable, and the supporting cast wasn't much better, with most of the characters feeling like they were just there to advance the plot or provide some forced comedic relief rather than actually contributing to the story in any meaningful way.

The dialogue was also cringe-worthy at times, with characters speaking in a way that felt unnatural and forced, rather than authentic and genuine, and the romance itself felt like it was based more on convenience and plot necessity rather than any actual emotional connection between the characters, which made it hard to become invested in their relationship or care about their happiness.

Furthermore, the movie's pacing was also slow and plodding, with long stretches of boring exposition and unnecessary subplots that added nothing to the story, making the movie feel overly long and drawn-out, and the lack of any real tension or conflict made the movie feel predictable and formulaic, rather than surprising and engaging.

Overall, Loveyapa was a disappointing and unimpressive movie that failed to deliver on its promise of a romantic and emotional experience, instead offering a formulaic and predictable story with poorly developed characters, cringe-worthy dialogue, and a lack of any real tension or conflict, making it a movie that is easily forgettable and not worth watching, especially when compared to other, better romantic movies that offer more complex and nuanced explorations of love and relationships.

LOVE ON DISCOUNT

LOVE ON DISCOUNT

"Lovyapa," directed by Advait Chandan, is a romantic comedy that fails to leave an impact despite its promising premise. Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor make their debuts as Gaurav and Baani, a couple testing trust by exchanging phones before marriage. However, the execution falls flat with a weak screenplay adapted from "Love Today."

The humor feels forced, and the emotional moments lack depth, making it hard to connect with the characters. Junaid Khan's performance is earnest but lacks presence, while Khushi Kapoor struggles to bring nuance to her role. The supporting cast is underutilized, offering little to the story.

The film's reliance on slashed ticket prices is a poor attempt to make up for its shortcomings. While the strategy may attract initial viewers, cheap tickets cannot replace strong storytelling. "Lovyapa" highlights how nepotism can't guarantee success if the content doesn't resonate.

Despite a catchy title track, the film remains forgettable. "Lovyapa" proves that audiences today demand more than just discounts to fill seats.

Another flop from Nepokids.

Junaid can break the Record for most number of flop movies of Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan.

Nepotism is the real main reason Public avoiding Bollywood and choosing South India Movies.

Clearly there is no Acting talent in both these Nepokids.

Acting is a talent which these two are deprived for life. They cant play any role as they dont know anything of real world. Born in rich and famous family. Well too famous already cause of Parents. Already accepted in Bollywood Directors and Producers .

It would have a batter movie only if Talented Lead Actors would have been there.

If you don't know Real Acting you will always struggle for a Superhit Movie like Abhishek Bachchan. After 25 years in Industry and yet to learn Acting.

Loved to Watch

Is such an amazing movie! Despite being a remake, it feels great to watch. The concept was new but highly relatable for the current generation and their messed up dating scenario. Loved it! No idea why people were giving it so much hate. One thing I can say didn't work well was the main cast's acting. Junaid and Khushi could both have been better in terms of dialogue delivery and expressions, otherwise the movie is awesome.

I never write reviews but, today i am writing because its a good movie, i always check rating before watching movie, i found bad rating but when i watched this movie it was impressive...i appriciate new actor and actressreally like Junaid Khan. What a natural acting he is doing. Not copying his father but he will surely take the Legacy to next level. I believe Junaid doesn't want to prove anyone that he is good actor because he know he is Born as an Actor not just a fake action Hero. I wish him luck for next movie. . . Other side. . Ms Khushi. . she has long way to become an Actress. . Wish her good luck too.

Remake of Love Today and worst acting

I went in with low expectations, but even those were shattered. They remade it, and I literally felt like vomiting while watching it. Bollywood has a history of ruining great South Indian films, but this one took it to another level.

I had to stop watching Loyapa halfway through just to save my love for the original. I immediately switched back to Love Today to remind myself how a great story should actually be told. The original was fresh, emotional, and engaging, while this remake was soulless, cringy, and unbearable.

Please, Bollywood-if you can't respect the essence of a film, don't remake it. I wish I could erase this from my memory!

Cute movie donno why so bad reviews

Loved the movie, it's a great chick flick. Story is very engaging and I loved Junaid's acting. Beautiful characters. Feel good movie.

Donno why the rating was so bad. Didn't watch it in theater thinking about the bad reviews but loved it when it actually came on OTT.

Would like to see more such movies.

If you're in the mood for a lighthearted, meaningful , and endlessly rewatchable chick flick, this is the perfect pick. It's more than just a chick flick, there's a whole bunch of emotions kind of movie-at its core, it's a story about self-discovery, trust and love. Support of friends and family.

Subpar Performances, but a Decent Retelling of Today's Love

Loveyapa (2025) : Movie Review -

Advait Chandan's Loveyapa is a Hindi remake of the unique Tamil film Love Today (2022), which has gained some popularity since its release. I was enamored with the idea of phone swapping since I also belong to the same mobile phone generation and may have the same secrets hidden. However, the dramatic ending wasn't particularly unique or fresh, which caused me to disengage towards the end. Loveyapa is funny in parts and quite entertaining elsewhere, but it succumbs to similar drama, which makes sense theoretically, yet the cinematic value drags a bit. The subpar performances play a significant role in undermining this remake, but honestly, it's a decent watch, even for those who have seen the original.

Loveyapa delves into the lives of Gaurav, aka Gucci (Junaid Khan), and Baani (Khushi Kapoor), who are in love. These young lovebirds want to get married, but Baani's father has an idea that could destroy this cute romance within 24 hours. He asks the two to swap their mobile phones for a day and then meet again to see how well they know each other. In those 24 hours, many secrets are revealed that shatter the foundation of their relationship, leading them to keep the phones for three more days to explore further and expose each other on a larger scale.

Loveyapa features a crisp screenplay that keeps you engaged and flowing throughout the runtime. The idea is unique, fresh, and intriguing right after the first half-hour is over. The jokes are relatable, and while a few are risqué, they are surprisingly funny. Some irritating adult jokes also land decently on occasion. You'll not feel bored while watching the film even if you believe you can predict what will happen. It has that guilty pleasure aspect. What Loveyapa could have avoided is the overly dramatic portion in the finale, some melodramatic segments, and extensive scene-making. But it's not a significant issue anyway unless you are getting up from your seat.

The film needed good performances, but sadly, that doesn't happen. Junaid Khan struggles with expressions and dialogue delivery, but he has the looks and attitude. Khushi Kapoor appeared genuine and natural in emotional scenes whenever she cried-until she opened her mouth. The tone of her voice and her dialogue delivery were both lacking. Ashutosh Rana looked decent, but Sathyaraj possesses a certain magic that can't be replaced or matched. Grusha Kapoor and Kiku Sharda were exceptional and emerged as surprising elements. Tanvika Parlikar and Devishi Madaan were just okay, while the boys' gang-Aditya Kulshrestha, Jasom Tham, Nikhil Mehta, Yunus Khan, and others-were fine.

Loveyapa has decent music, but there isn't a hit number, which makes the songs seem useless. "Kaun Kinna Zaroori Si" still felt much better than the others. The cinematography was mediocre as the poor expressions are captured closely, while most of the good scenes are in wide frames. The film has been edited well, except for the ten-minute loo break in the final quarter. Advait Chandan has made another watchable film, which is a good sign for new-generation directors. He has yet to make a bad film, which is more than just fine in today's landscape when compared with other new filmmakers or even experienced ones. Overall, Loveyapa is decent and watchable, but it doesn't match the original. This is the problem with every remake, so why blame just this one? If you can tolerate a couple of bad performances for 140 minutes, there's nothing wrong with buying tickets for Loveyapa. It's funny enough to make for your ticket purchase.

Soul less remake - made a bigger mess by incompetent leads

What can I say about this?

In a sentence a Soul less remake - made a bigger mess by incompetent leads !

The original was rustic, realistic and most importantly the ending had a layer - where it shows two flawed persons, those that have done morally ambiguous if not questionable acts while in a relationship with each other, realize true meaning of relationship; that is no one is perfect and relationship is build and overtime you will be surprised for the patience (the sequence around the tree and all).

Basically the adaptation played to safe - and dont get me started on leads - the guy is not convincing and did not display any charima and actress did a slightly better, but albeit still not a 'good' performance.

Go Watch Please, A Mirror to How We Think, React, and Get Fooled in the Digital Age

If you're reading this-I am not a critic. I am not a cinema critic. I am a business owner. And in my company, I move faster than most people. I see things that others cannot see.

So, don't just go by what people are saying. People will always have opinions-some will praise, most will criticize. And we all know one thing about human nature: we rarely appreciate anything new. We resist it. We reject it.

But I see something here. I feel this guy (the actor) has immense talent. And more than that, the story itself has worked. The story came alive on screen. Somewhere, I sense Aamir Khan's influence-perhaps his father was involved. Or maybe, Loveyappa is the Hindi remake of the unique Tamil film Love Today (2022). Whatever the case, this movie deserves appreciation. It deserves to be shared and rewatched.

Why? Because this is our story-the exact story of the digital world.

The phone exchange-a guy and a girl swap phones, revealing their hidden digital lives.

And let's be honest, in a world full of options, haven't we all got our own digital history?

The insecure guy-a character struggling with body image, always feeling less because of his weight.

The deepfake manipulation-someone using technology to deceive, exposing the dark side of our digital reality.

Three different yet interconnected layers of truth.

And yet, just because this movie doesn't have a big star, people are dismissing it. That's unfair. This is a solid story with a strong message. I personally liked it. Maybe you will, maybe you won't-but don't listen to the morons stuck in outdated thinking. The ones who are still trapped in a mass mindset, not ready to accept how human nature actually works.

This movie is a reflection of how we truly think, react, and get fooled. And that's exactly why it deserves a 9/10.

Watch it. Understand it. And maybe, just maybe, you'll see yourself in it.

Exceptionally sub par

This film again puts nepotism of Hindi film industry to the core introducing to the audience two leads who can't squinch a muscle. Acting isn't about showing off a toned body and making choreographed dance moves, it's about living the character.

And it wasn't a role that you had need a Toshiro Mifune or Dilip Kumar to pull it off. Anyone with half decent skills could have done it. But sadly both the leads could as well be replaced by sculptures since the latter also can't deliver emotions.

The film does have a intriguing and a capable storyline. If it was done properly, then despite the hiccups of poor acting, some laughs could have been generated. But even the director could not rise up to the occasion. It's a comic film with hardly any laughs. I saw the female lead's sophomore film 'Naadaniyan' recently and whilst this is slightly better than that(read:less cringe), it is not saying much.

(Add to it a hastily and cringe done ending and you have yourself a film that makes you wish you had watched paint drying instead)

Dude...

I don't understand a single negative review for this movie. In a way I am thankful for going in with low expectations. I didn't find a single flaw in the movie. The humor and writing was amazing. The casting was absolutely great. Junaid khan was so much fun to watch! His acting was perfect and it's amazing to see how talented he is. Khushi was pretty good in her role as well and they had great chemistry. Ashutosh Rana, all of the supporting characters. The level of emotional intelligence. It is also such a relevant topic. Kudos to the entire team who made this movie and it deserves to be appreciated.

Unfortunately seems like Indians would rather watch badass Ravi Kumar (which I feel would be great as well) and judge the movie for having "nepo" kids. The nepo kids can act though! Loved this movie and wouldn't mind watching it over and over again.

Junaid deserves much better

Movies like this deserve a zero rating system...khusi kapoor ko to main reel banane ke Liye bhi na lu...e log movie main kese le Rahe hai...nepo kids need to learn acting before signing a film.... On the other hand,Junaid Khan as a actor is not bad..I have seen him maharaja..he needs to be more focus while reading a script..poor acting poor cast except Junaid..bande ki koi galti nahi hai..agar script hi ghatiya hai to Banda karega kya.. How producers except audience would see such film I a theater where there is no proper story... Khusi Kapoor is the worst Nepo in the recent times.. overacting ke Liye paise letu hai bas..na proper dialogue delivery aur nahi expression...

Feels like it is written by someone in the 10th grade

The plot in itself is very childish. It is basically the stuff that guys discuss in their "groupchats" in a 2½ hour movie. I mean they managed to underutilize a comedian like Kiku Sharda. Modern banne ke chakkar mai, story hi nahi hai movie mai. Issey accha koi puraani movie remake kar lete. Most of the jokes did not land. It felt almost forceful. The movie is a disgrace to be either called a comedy or a romantic movie and definitely not a "rom-com". I couldn't wait for the movie to end and as soon as it did, I never felt so good. The title is apt though bass love ke jagah kisi aur cheez ka yapa hai, movie mai.
