Now days with streaming services dominating the distribution as well having their finger in the production, it's unjustifiable to have a production without budget. It's transparent that the production design has no resources, plus the actors just can't walk on water if there is no water to walk on, and the directing choices remind me of low budget films from the 70's. Only lack of budget would justify this production. One doesn't need to reinvent the wheel to know about coverage nor production value. Perhaps distributors should understand that you don't make a film by committee, otherwise you make a dull, lifeless sausage. A country bursting with film history that transcends modern cinema with innovations, grit and aesthetic was murdered by The Girl Who Killed Her Parents.
The Girl Who Killed Her Parents: The Confession, which I'll call The Confession from now on, is a true crime film that focuses on the investigation that led to the trial of Suzane Von Richtofen and the Cravinhos Brothers for the murder of Suzane's parents. The Confession is a spin-off of the original, The Girl Who Killed Her Parents, from 2021, which feels more like a money-eater.
The reason the film seems to just want to squeeze more money out of the story is that the first film involves the trial of the trio. This film focuses on the investigative aspects that led to the outcome of the trial, but the scenes that show the investigation are weak, some scenes even seem too forced. In one scene, they discover the supposed murder weapon at random; I searched for information about this event and didn't find anything relevant.
Acting has its ups and downs. Carla Dias steals the show with her impeccable performance of Suzane, but the other actors seem, well, actors; They look like they're in a play, some lines sounding robotic, almost literally read to the scene.
The Confession is a film that closes Suzane's arc, a film for curious people on duty. I wouldn't recommend it for a hobby, just out of pure and genuine curiosity.
