In this twisting, heart-pounding thriller, the minister of a once vibrant, landmark Baptist church, now struggling to survive, is the sole hold-out in a decaying Philadelphia neighborhood earmarked for gentrification. But ultimately, the preachers steely resolve to preserve his familys evangelical legacy in the community and dwindling congregation dissolves under relentless pressure from his status-seeking wife and greedy church leaders. Lured by cash bribes and promises from unscrupulous developers to establish a flashy mega-ministry elsewhere.

Soon, the spirits of congregational members deeply wronged of centuries past, stirred from the disquiet of their graves by the remorseless trespasses of another generation, begin to make their displeasure known. As the sinners, abruptly and inexplicably bound within the confines of the sanctuary, begin to fall prey to unseen and ominous forces, they must all re-examine their choices and bow to the will of the covenant, only to reveal the righteous among them.

Want to get even with someone?

Make them sit thru this movie. There are no bright spots in this one.

Well, Bill Moseley has got bills to pay too, I guess.

If they're not going for an R rating or at least eerie atmosphere over very cheap playstation2 graphics they shouldn't have made this movie. I wasn't expecting much but when the awful digital effects started it just took me out of this movie. I still hung in there because I hate to not finish a movie, but it just got worse. The ending just doesn't make any sense and trys to make some points of being something larger taking place but utterly fails at be compelling . This movie is really boring , which is the cardinal sin of any movie.

Don't watch if you're a religious person

First thing's first, if you're a religious person, don't watch this movie. It WILL offend you. Other than that, this movie alone is meh. While there was a lot of potential in this movie, with the idea of using a corrupt church as the ultimate evil, I feel this movie could've been so much more. This movie is a hard miss because it doesn't execute its potential well.

Time wasted

The overall storyline MIGHT have had potential, but: 1) Acting is really bad, all the way around 2) Special effects are not even as good as a mediocre1970s Saturday afternoon matinee.

I think with decent writing, the storyline could have had a chance, but inspiration was obviously lacking on their parts.

There's really not much more to say except please don't waste your time looking for anything in this hour-and-a-half waste of film that might actually redeem it or the actors. It's just not going to be there. You'd have a better time getting your teeth cleaned or changing your automobile's wiper blades.
