September dives into the freedom of representation, the urge to embellish, conceal, to choose our forms and to encourage emotion to rise up and be completely expressed. We explored how communities have always created masks to hide, to blend in, to other and also to liberate the self from the pressures of society, to tell stories, to mock, to appear as anything other than a preordained way. The tactile application of mud on skin, hessian on skin, skin to the earth is a sensory trip. The human body is the site of pressure, discourse, fear, rage, confusion and controversy. We dream of celebration, absurdity, curiosity, desire, pleasure and insight . This film is the result of trust, openness, breath - work, connection, play, earthing and filth. We dived into the ground, into water, earth, clay, wood and foliage and the discoveries were exhilaration, endless emotion and a silent internal rave. Matthew Shaw's symbiotic response was to externalise this in a kinetic, harmonious, parallel, dirty banger of a track.

The Earthing project is a year long collaborative exploration in response to nature and experience. Earthing September is one of a series of twelve short films. Each shot in a day during the named month, under the predominating weather conditions. We operate under a leave no trace, environmental pact. Which includes litter picking, broken glass removal and sustainable forms of transport and creation.
