An R-rated extended cut called Rebel Moon - Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness (2024) was released in mid-2024, to follow the similarly R-rated Director's cut of Chapter One: Chalice of Blood.
Ed Skrein who played the villain Atticus Noble and Michiel Huisman who played the hero Gunnar, both played the same character in Game of Thrones, Daario Naharis. Daario was recast from Ed to Michiel.
The PG-13 version, The Scargiver, debuted to 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, later climbing to 16%, the lowest rated film of Zack Snyder's career. However, the R rated director's cut, The Curse Of Forgiveness, is currently fresh at 67%, a massive improvement.

The scene where Princess Issa's parents are brutally murdered by then-Senator Balisarius and his loyalist senators as a form of political assassination by having them surrounded and repeated stabbed with knives is similar to how the first Emperor of Rome, Julius Caesar, was assassinated by people he believed were loyal to him.
