Why does this have such glowing reviews?

Three reasons:

It's very, very funny. It's well written. And the cast, for the most part, are all equally superb.

Paul Campbell and Kimberly Sustad have hopefully already signed long-term contracts w/Hallmark as they clearly know what they're doing. They're both not only excellent actors with great comic timing, but they KNOW HOW TO WRITE comedy -- and drama as well.

They create empathetic characters with believable relationships right from the start. No line is wasted, no line is unnecessary. A few reviewers have mentioned how horrible and unfunny it is that someone left a baby alone right before Christmas, but IMO these people must've gotten up on the wrong side of the bed and are really angry about something else in their lives.

It's a MOVIE, not a documentary, and again, the way it's set up is credible, as is the resolution.

And while all three leads are great -- both funny and at times very touching -- special kudos go out to Tyler Hynes, who's dry, sarcastic delivery is spot-on, and to Margaret Collins, who matches him line for line. She's completely believable as the mother of these three misfits.

Bravo Hallmark. (Something I never thought I'd say.)

Hallmark has hit the Christmas jackpot with this one.

Paul Campbell and Kimberly Sustad have written a script that is funny, poignant, nostalgic and heartfelt. All the things you want in a Christmas movie, and especially a Christmas movie from Hallmark. There is a good mix of humour and introspection. Couldn't have asked for better material.

And the cast! What a cast! Andrew Walker, Tyler Hynes and Paul Campbell - the Holy Trinity of Hallmark leading men - are fantastic as three somewhat estranged, bickering brothers who have to look after a baby in the lead-up to Christmas. It's a transformative experience for all of them, as they undertake a crash or crash through course in parenting whilst examining their own relationships with one another.

What a brilliant film. Hallmark will have to work hard to top this one. Not just this year, but any year! 'Three Wise Men and a Baby' is THAT good.

I really enjoy this movie, the humour, family connection of not being perfect as we all see within these Christmas movies. I really like all three male actors. That "LOVE" between a man and woman wasn't the focus of this movie. It was more about family and the brotherly love. I have already watched it twice and will watch it again next year I am sure. How we see all three brothers so different in their personalities but in the end all come together. The other cast members all played great and interesting parts to the movies which just added to a great movie. I could also see another movie with the same characters next year.

I just watched this a second time and I laughed out loud all over again. This is a very funny movie. These guys really work well with each other .

This was a highly anticipated all-star movie for pretty much all of us devoted Hallmark movie fans. With 3.6 million viewers on its first night, this was the most watched TV movie on cable in 2022. But that just measures how many people wanted to see it. They were not disappointed. It was great. The three wise men (Paul Campbell, Andrew Walker and Tyler Hynes) represent three of Hallmark's most likable and popular male movie stars, but there was so much more to like. Margaret Colin, who starred in the original Three Men and a Baby, was great as always. As was Ali Liebert, who has starred in AND directed other Hallmark movies. I also liked Fiona Vroom as Susie even better during the second viewing. There's a sadness below that bubbly personality that actually moved me.

Paul Campbell, who wrote this with fellow Hallmark all-star Kimberley Sustad, is also becoming one of Hallmark's best writers. And they have a real feel for comedy. But it has also been revealed that, presumably because of the great camaraderie, there was a lot of ad-libbing. Whatever the formula, it worked. There are a lot of great lines, and a few "wink winks" to those familiar with the writers. At one point, Campbell's character Stephan says:

"Well, this is an unexpected Christmas".

"Unexpected Christmas" was a great Hallmark movie from last year that Paul Campbell also wrote and which, coincidentally, also starred Tyler Hynes as a somewhat unlikeable character. People often joke about incel adult gamers living in their mom's basement, and yet this movie bravely features such a character. The one other depiction of that kind of person which comes to mind is Kevin Smith in Live Free or Die Hard. It's a testament to the charisma of Tyler Hynes that he can humanize unlikeable flawed characters.

And Campbell's anxiety ridden character had plenty of problems too (effectively depicted by the actor). Walker's Nate was the most well adjusted, but he also carried the lifelong effects of being abandoned by a deadbeat dad. I'll never understand how a father can do that. Although this is a mostly fun and upbeat movie, there is an undercurrent of sadness that these 3 brothers and their mother were left to fend for themselves. And that results in some touching scenes amidst all the laughs.

There are 2 classic moments that fans will talk about as being their favorites: the elves and Santa photo op and the 3 brothers' artistic dance routine. Both were truly wonderful.

There's also an uncredited cameo by a big Hallmark star who also has a "wink wink" line that only a true Hallmark fan will catch.

And the rest of the movie was filled with other fun lines:

"The noblest of firs, fir sure"

"Nice truck, did it come with an unearned sense of self-confidence?"

I could go on, but this was such a fun movie to watch. I hope they do a sequel. Perhaps they can do a better job of detailing the baby's mother's dire straits and desperation in Part 2.

The story about three men who find a baby has been told many times in the movies, starting with a silent movie in 1916, followed by several more, most notably "3 Godfathers" with John Wayne in 1948 and 1986's "Three Men and a Baby" with Tom Selleck.

Writers Paul Campbell and Kimberley Sustad have taken the story and updated it in clever and expert fashion. This is extremely well written as the baby causes the three men to come to understand themselves, as well as women, particularly their own mother.

The three actors here, Campbell, Tyler Hynes, and Andrew Walker, are all just wonderful and you can tell they really enjoyed playing these parts. Supporting them are Ali Liebert as Fiona and Fiona Vroom as Susie, both very good, and the producers cleverly cast Margaret Collin, who co-starred in the Selleck movie, as the mother, and she is simply terrific. Add Matt Hamilton as an obnoxious neighbor and Sustad herself, briefly, as an ER doctor, and you've got a cast that comes together perfectly.

The direction and editing are great and serve to add to the spirited, funny, and sometimes heartwarming script.

Sustad and Campbell have written before for Hallmark (the wonderful "Christmas by Starlight") and we can only hope that this partnership continues.

Sustad's other new movie this 2022 season is "Lights! Camera! Christmas!," another "10" in my book, but "Wise Men" beats it by a "baby step" as the best so far.

If this doesn't put you in the Christmas spirit, nothing will.

Ps Wrote the above review in 2022. Turns out that this movie was the most watched made-for-cable movie of that year in the US and Campbell and Sustad won a Leo Award in Canada for their screenplay/writing.

What a cute movie! Television often copies Hollywood, but in the spirit of Christmas, we tend to overlook the lack of originality. That being said, Three Wise Men and a Baby is a total spinoff of the 1987 classic. There's a cute twist to it, though: the three babysitters are all brothers! Andrew Walker is the responsible oldest sibling, a firefighter, who puts everyone else's needs ahead of his own. He discovers the baby at the fire station with a note specifically asking him to take care of the bundle. Paul Campbell is the middle child, an anxiety-riddled pet therapist. Tyler Hynes, the youngest, is an immature video game programmer who loses jobs as frequently as his temper. All three have emotional scars from childhood that still haven't healed; because their father abandoned their mother, Margaret Colin (who was in the original movie!), they're determined to care for the baby boy as best as they can. It's a very sweet story with believable, three-dimensional characters.

There's a wonderful balance between laughing at the inept babysitters and feeling your heart warm as they mature through their new responsibilities. The movie can't be entirely about how the male species make lousy parents; it also can't be so saccharine it's not believable. This is a very believable story, especially how each character grows from, addresses, and overcomes his particular hurdles. I'm looking forward to adding this movie to my annual Hallmark lineup!

Seriously Hallmark, please commission Kimberley Sustad and Paul Campbell to write a lot more movies, not only are they two of your finest actors, this is the best movie you've ever made. All the characters feel so real and I love the relationship development between the brothers as the story progresses. I also loved that it didn't feel formulaic, and it really made a nice change for the story to be centred around the male characters.

I have never laughed this hard at a Hallmark movie. I hope this marks the beginning of a new era of great, funny, heartfelt and real movies, this is what I want for the future of Hallmark movies.

...and while this movie was not a total exception, it had a few gems sprinkled throughout.

Honestly, it had an excellent cast and some scenes that were just great. But sadly, it lacked cohesiveness. Which was odd given that neither the director nor the writers were inexperienced. The cast did a great job of making the great scenes awesome. But many scenes felt disjointed, clunky, and choppy. It's like they wrote a bunch of scene ideas on post-its, reassembled them in some kind of order, but there was no smooth flow tying them all together. And there was a lot of repetitious dialogue over and over again as they tried to share the moral of the story but in such a shove it down your throat way. Hallmark frequently has a habit of telling rather than showing, and I distinctly remember from my own film classes many moons ago, that for the medium, it should be show as much as possible instead of tell.

I'm glad I gave it a chance because in what they had to work with, Paul Campbell (also one of the writers), Andrew Walker, and Tyler Hynes executed it wonderfully. It was fun to see three leading and favorite actors play off of each other as brothers and bring to life some of the better scenes. They were all adorable in their interactions with the baby. It fell short in many respects but it was worth at least a watch. Might even watch again while skipping over the less desirable scenes.

And the final wrap up scenes were all just cringe with secondhand embarrassment. Awkward to watch but I'm glad they kept it real with the contest. But it could've been worse. Hallmark's proven they can do much, much worse these days.

Well done, {Wise} Men, Baby, and Hallmark! I loved the Campbell/Walker/Hynes dynamic and their Nutcracker dance.

The movie was funny, unique, had a dash of romance and not your traditional Christmas movie storyline.... I LOVED it all. This movie was a welcome change from "a guy or girl leaves city, goes home to small town and falls for their plaid wearing ex from their past."

Also, a big shout out to Kimberley Sustad and Paul Campbell for their wonderful and entertaining writing. I also liked Kimberley's surprise movie cameo!

I was hoping I would like this movie, but it quickly became apparent that these three sons were written to be extremely juvenile, especially to be in their late 30s and early 40s. So that was very off-putting. Their constant bickering and finger-pointing just didn't ring true. It was also extremely annoying that they decided to do a nativity with wise men and seemed to have no clue about the actual story about it. They couldn't even say baby Jesus, they fumbled around with words until they finally decided to call him the King. Big eye roll. Thankfully, the movie didn't contain any woke agenda so that was a plus. The explanation of the mom leaving the baby wasn't fleshed out enough so it didn't ring true, either. Oh, and the three guys doing their fairy dance - really stupid looking. Not amusing at all. And I'm not being overly critical. I don't expect movies to watch to be life-changing or award-winning. I just want to be entertained. This was not entertaining.

All in all, this was a huge miss. Three good actors, and Margaret Colin, too are wasted on a sloppily thrown together concept and an extremely silly script. In a word - disappointing.

Finally! I found a stand out movie in this year's Christmas movies. This is definitely one of my top five Hallmark movies. Paul Campbell, Tyler Hines, and Andrew Walker did not disappoint. Their acting was so real. The interacted like siblings do and left me laughing and shedding a few tears. This was well written and had a different twist on the typical Hallmark Christmas movie. I did not even miss the lack of a romance story. Will definitely watch again and again. Thank you Hallmark for something a little different! Please get these three together more often. They are definitely my three favorite actors.

I really enjoyed this movie. Probably best Christmas movies this year and one of my favorites for quite a few seasons. I love Hallmark and all Christmas movies but they usually follow the same format. Boy and girl meet, lots of holiday happenings, they usually break up and then get back together. This one, besides the abandoned baby, was more realistic. Imperfect people, family members who don't get along, and the spirit of forgiveness and Christmas spirit that reunited us all. I loved all the actors and the characters they played. The Sugarplum Dance was the best. Just wish they had preformed it completely again at the end. Great writing job. I hope we see more movies that are original like this. Even if it is based on a favorite 80's movie it was really good.

The temptation to define it as great is not small. First because the theme seduces always - three men, a baby, a lot of adventures, each of them more than realistic.

The second motif - each guy is a star of Hallmark. And the story is so nice, so charming, in some measure just crazy, than you can hope than romance will be ignored. Sure, it is only an illusion.

But , real, a film beginning with a shirtless Andrew W. Walker admiring his muscles in mirror and answering to call of his mother, a baby in a firestation, three Princes Charmings in role of improvised fathers with not the most impression, in first part, results, and three brothers collaborating for noble cause are pure golden virtues for a film. And the mentioned ones are a part from gifts offered to viewer by Three Wise Men and a Baby..

Leaning very much into 'Three Men and a Baby' for its inspiration, this was a very good Hallmark film indeed.

I've not been totally convinced by the channels efforts to do something 'different' in recent years, but if they could do more like this I might well be back on board.

This was great fun, with Tyler Hynes on top form as he always is. He has a knack of being able to deliver the most cheesy of lines in a fun way.

I thought this grew into itself after a bumpy start, but once it got going it was good solid Christmas fun,

I'd take a sequel of this in the future if Hallmark are up for it.

Everything about this movie worked. The actors. The vibe. The storyline. It's unique even if it's a play on Three Men and a Baby, and who cares if it is? This movie was spot-on and hilarious. Even my husband enjoyed it. The brother's dynamic was realistic, and all were working through issues regarding their absent father. The baby is an absolute cutie pie, and the guys did an excellent job with him. Kimberley Sustads's cameo was great! This is not a typical Hallmark movie, and it was refreshing. I love how they are thinking outside of the box. Definitely, one of my new favorites, and I've watched it numerous times.

Three Men and a Baby was a great movie in its time. This one Three Wise Men and a Baby brings it up to the present with as much fun as the original and perhaps even funnier and more relatable. These three as brothers who are vastly different, make for many hilarious moments. Congratulations to all the cast. A wonderful and funny Christmas movie that contains many moments to remember while delivering the true message we like to see about families, Christmas while keeping in with the love story between the characters as a family and where this baby brings out the best in them and helps forge their future.

To have 3 of the best Hallmark actors Tyler Hynes, Andrew Walker and Paul Campbell all in one movie is a dream come true. Anyone who has watched Hallmark movies knows who these actors are and those who don't need to. Their movies are all great, I am a huge Tyler fan so I will be biased of his movies, haven't seen a movie I disliked. This movie relates to many people in different ways. Paul and Kimberly did a great job writing this script. I had laughs, tears and happiness all rolled in one. Tyler, Andrew and Paul but there heart in soul in their movies and it seen. Those together and hilarious on screen and off I may add as I watched the interviews....

I am amazed how many 10 out of 10 reviews there are and I think they are all robots because this film is so bad that it is hilarious . The story is idiotic and the Characters are badly written. The ending is also very bad. I don't recommend this film and to me it was the longest hour and a half of my life. The only good thing about my viewing of this movie was that I was watching with my family, after only 15 minutes my sister left and I should have followed here but we were laughing the whole time because it was so cheesy and the brothers dance was also very cheesy .This movie is made for mom that crave shirtless young men and this movie does deliver this.

This movie has a lot going for it especially in the way it swayed from the usual generic hallmark movie format/formula, I was looking forward to it for that reason, so had higher expectations than usual and ended up having a pretty fun time. It was cute, the script was good, it was genuinely funny at times and got quite a few giggles, smiles and laughs from me. The 3 main actors were good choices for their respective roles and actually seemed to be having a nice time acting in this, which is more than I can say for some of these made for TV movies, and it still kept in the usual vein of somewhat corny, lighthearted Christmas spirit one looks for in these types of things. Worth a watch.

This movie is one of Hallmark's finest! I enjoyed every minute of it. It is funny, moving, meaningful and it really touched my heart. The cast is fantastic too!👏👏👏

This is a Christmas movie that shows what family is all about: sticking together, not leaving when life gets tough, finding out how empty life is without love in it and that what millions of parents, especially single parents do every day, is exceptional and priceless.

I enjoy Hallmark movies a lot and especially if they are as wonderfully made as this one.

Luke (Andrew Walker) is a fireman and one day someone drops a baby and a note specifically asking him to take care of baby Thomas. Just another day dropping babies with strangers. So, he is determined to take care of him for a few days just as the note says. Stephan (Paul Campell) and Taylor (Tyler Hynes), his brothers help him do so.

It is known this was one of the most awaited Hallmark movies of the Christmas season due to our three leads. But the fact that it was written by Paul and Kimberley Sustad improved this by a 100%.

It is funny. It is very funny. There are funny moments, there are great one liners specially by Taylor. I have never been a Tyler fan but he's been my favorite in his last two movies. (Maybe it's the beard and the short hair, who knows?)

Other than funny, it's real. You see three men taking care of a baby but you also see three boys whose father left them and all of them have insecurities or anxieties because of that. Other than that, their relationship broke as well. Funny that a unknown baby is the one to put it back together. I really liked that the romance is minimum. You blink and you missed it.

When I saw that Kimberley co-wrote this, of course I was expecting her appearance. I was not disappointed. It's a shame she wasn't Stephan's love interest. She and Paul make a great duo. You know who is also in this movie? Ali Liebert. Another favorite. This was great.

Anyway, do yourself a favor and watch this. I will definitely watch it again.

I have to say this movie is one of the best christmas movie I have seen in a long time. I loved that 2 of my favourite Hallmark characters Tyler Hynes & Andrew Walker are in the same movie. I loved this movie so much I've seen it 6 times. I love Tyler's sarcastic character & Andrew's funny but father figure character & Paul Campbell's sensitivity in this movie. This is a movie I can watch over & over again & to be honest I think I will be. I love that even though the each character has their different strengths & weaknesses they come together make it such an amazing movie to watch. Finally the baby was so cute.
