The movie is dedicated to the late Rob Pilatus, who died on April 2, 1998 in Frankfurt, Germany. He was 33.

During the film, it is mentioned that Paula Abdul complained about Milli Vanilli harassing her during the Club MTV Tour. While this may or may not be true, the duo's erratic behavior during the tour was confirmed by some artists. Most notable was Cathy Dennis, who spoke out in 1990 that one of the duo sexually harassed her to the point where she left the tour.

During the argument between Rob & Fab and Frank Farian, it is mentioned by Farian that Roxette beat Milli Vanilli in the U.S. This is true, as Roxette's U.S. debut single "The Look" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart while "Girl You Know It's True" peaked at No. 2 at the same time.

During the montage of TV footage mocking Milli Vanilli, an original sock puppet sketch is used as a substitute to the Milli Vanilli parody sketch from the comedy series In Living Color, which the production team was unable to obtain a license to use.

During Frank Farian's narration portion, he mentions that backing vocalists and sisters Linda and Jodie Rocco would later on sue him. This happened after Farian released the 1991 album The Moment of Truth, with the studio musicians as The Real Milli Vanilli. Despite the band's name, Farian opted not to have the Rocco sisters perform live; instead, he hired Gina Mohammed to lip-sync to the Roccos' vocals in order to keep the band all-black on stage.
