ABC has released their Fall 2025 schedule, and there’s some noteworthy things to point out!

First, there’s no Doctor Odyssey on the schedule. The Ryan Murphy series stars Joshua Jackson, and is one of the only ABC shows that has no renewal or cancellation update at this time.

This year, the series aired on Thursdays, but it looks like the new 9-1-1 spinoff set in Nashville will be taking that spot.

“It’s not currently on our schedule. We’re continuing to have creative conversations with Ryan, and we’ll talk to him about what the next chapter looks like,” Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich told THR. “Ryan’s really busy, but we’ll continue to talk.”

In addition, ABC confirmed that Will Trent and The Rookie will both, once again, debut in the midseason. High Potential, ABC’s other big show, will remain on Tuesday nights in the fall.

The second season of “The Golden Bachelor” and new spinoff series “9-1-1: Nashville” will lead ABC’s 2025-26 schedule.

The second installment of “The Golden Bachelor,” which follows NFL alum Mel Owens, will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m., following new episodes of “Shifting Gears” and “Abbott Elementary” this fall. After the reality series, ABC will usher in a new time slot for “Shark Tank,” which moves from its previous Friday spot to air Wednesdays at 10 p.m.

Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich told TheWrap the Wednesday 10 p.m. timeslot has had recent success in the past year but has had several shows cycle through, so they wanted what he calls a “signature show” in the hour. “Shark Tank” is “a show that’s beloved, that the audience knows where to find it, that the audience will seek it out.” Erwich also noted it will offer a strong lead-in for local news at 11 p.

ABC has picked up the drama pilot “Rj Decker,” based on Carl Hiaasen’s 1987 novel “Double Whammy.”

The one-hour pilot hails from writer and executive producer Rob Doherty, with Paul McGuigan attached to direct and executive produce. Hiaasen is also executive producing along with Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman of Timberman/Beverly Productions. 20th Television is the studio.

The official logline for the series states:

“Rj Decker, disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con, starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida, tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife, and a shadowy new benefactor, a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally… or his one-way ticket back to prison.”

We have a broadcast pickup — but not the kind one would expect the week before the upfronts. ABC has given a pilot order to Rj Decker, a drama from Elementary creator Rob Doherty based on the 1987 novel Double Whammy by Carl Hiaasen.

While atypical for the traditional broadcast development cycle, the timing is consistent with ABC’s own model, which involves 1-3 spring pilot pickups for midseason consideration. This marks the network’s first pilot greenlight in 2025 so far. As Deadline reported in our Pilot Season 2025 report in March, Rj Decker had been a leading drama contender at ABC.

This may be the closest we’ve gotten yet to seeing an apples-to-apples ranker of what TV viewers really are watching these days, regardless of platform. Nielsen is concluding the first season that we have a full list of how entertainment fare is performing on multiple platforms after 35 days — via over-the-air, on demand or streaming.

And here’s the good news for broadcast: People are still watching a lot from the old school medium. Especially on CBS. The network landed six slots on the list of the 20 most-watched series among total viewers across the board: “Tracker,” “Matlock,” “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” “Ghosts,” “Elsbeth” and “Watson.” ABC is the only other broadcast network in the top 20, with two.

No surprise, Netflix dominates the top 20, with ten shows among the total viewers tally— led by “Squid Game,” which at 27.1 million viewers, towers over everything else.

But the fact that broadcast landed...

CBS on Wednesday morning shared Nielsen’s first full-season ranking of broadcast networks based on 35-day multiplatform viewing, and the Eye Network easily leads the Big 4 with an average of 9.1 million total viewers (including linear airing and streaming).

“31 Candles” follows a 30-year-old New Yorker named Leo Kadner (Feingold), who spontaneously plans his long-overdue Bar Mitzvah after running into his former summer camp crush, Eva Shapiro (newcomer Sarah Coffey). Charlie Day has been a part of the industry for several decades now, with a slew of well-acclaimed projects to his name. But just like many in the industry, there’s one role that pushed him to Hollywood stardom. The role in question is that of Charlie Kelly in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He joined the show in 2005, and now, almost twenty years later and sixteen seasons down the line, fans still remember it with great affection.

While the sitcom has been a cultural phenomenon, with episodes that can rank quite high on the comedy quotient. But apparently the best performance of Day happened when he completely broke off character.

As It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans wait with alcohol-scented breath to see what R-rated hijinks the Paddy’s Pub crew gets into during Season 17, actress Mary Lynn Rajskub is ready for anything.

Rajskub got into the slurping, mashing spirit of her FX(X) character Gail the Snail on Monday, taking to Instagram with a video of her lip-syncing along to her lines from Season Five’s “The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention.”

“Huh, jealous?” she mouthed along to the clip, tossing her blonde hair into Gail’s signature half-up hairdo. “I’m a woman now, I’m not a virgin anymore.”

Completing the transformation into her mollusk-inspired alias by taking off her jacket to reveal a tank top similar to Gail’s in the 2009 episode, Rajskub offered yet another message for fans: She may be in her 50s, but the “The Garbage Pail Cousin” is still coming into her own.

Janelle James became an instant fan-favorite when “Abbott Elementary” debuted in 2021. She was relatively new to the acting game when she joined the sitcom, having previously focused mainly on stand-up. But stepping into the role of the glamorous, rule-breaking school principal, Ava Coleman, brought her blunt humor and wide-eyed gags to a larger audience, earning her Emmy nominations for three years in a row and constant praise from critics.

In the beginning of the series, Ava came off as incompetent and uncaring, constantly causing problems for the Abbott Elementary teachers who liked to do things by the book. Watson, the CBS medical mystery-drama loosely based on Sherlock Holmes’s trusty sidekick, Watson, from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes book series, has been renewed for a second season. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Morris Chestnut-led Watson was picked up for its second season just halfway through its first.

Watson has garnered steady ratings since it premiered in late January 2025. The show, which airs on Sunday nights on CBS, had 9.58 million viewers during its debut episode following the NFL’s AFC Championship game on Jan. 26. The premiere episode, over five weeks, had 18.7 cross-platform viewers with 7 million watching on Paramount+. The Paramount+ number marks the highest viewership on the streamer for the current television season.

Per Nielsen’s linear data, Watson has just below 6.8 million viewers per episode. Those numbers include DVR playback but not streaming. The renewal comes even though the series has a less-than-stellar 33% Rotten Tomatoes audience score.

In the upcoming film Audrey’s Children, actor Natalie Dormer plays Dr. Audrey Evans, a pediatric oncologist whose work shaped modern treatments for children with cancer. Set for theatrical release on March 28, the film follows Evans’ arrival at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 1969 as the first female Chief of Oncology.

Dormer’s performance highlights Evans’ efforts to challenge medical bureaucracy and workplace discrimination while introducing new approaches to treating young cancer patients.
