Bollywood films have stopped being released in Pakistan amid political tensions. However, Punjabi films are an exception, given that most producers on paper are from the UK or Canada. Sardaar Ji 3 made a banging start in Pak, earning Inr 6.34 crores (Pkr 21 crore) during its opening week, as per Pinkvilla.

Despite the two days off due to Muharram, it raked in Inr 2.86 crores (Pkr 9.50 crores) in its second week.

Diljit Dosanjh, who has a habit of willy-nilly getting into controversies, faces the biggest challenge of his career. His monumental recreation of the excesses during Punjab’s militancy in the 1990s, tentatively titled Punjab 95, based on the life of Sikh activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, has been blocked from release by the Central Board of Film Certification not once but innumerable times.

The outstanding film, one of the most cogent and gripping depictions of a time when every household in Punjab feared a knock on the door, has been battling the Central Board of Film Certification.

The latest on that front is that the Cbfc has asked for a record 127 cuts before giving a censor certificate. The Cbfc has also asked for the title to be changed, which was altered from Ghalughara, which meant Carnage. In March, an international release for the uncut version of the film (barring India) was announced.

It has been six months, and the Hindi box office 2024 has been on a roll with a cumulative 1000+ crore coming in the six months. Hindi films have brought together a total of approximately 1307 crore with a total of 29 releases, including 2 Hollywood flicks and 3 dubbed South Indian films.

Box Office 2024 – Half Yearly

In six months, Hindi films have earned 1307 crore. This, however, is much less than the cumulative box office collection of the first six months of the last year. In 2023, the first half collected 1846 crore at the box office, almost 42% higher than what the 29 films have earned this year.

Last year, the 1800 crore came with around 25 films that included 3 Hollywood biggies and 2 South Indian dubbed films. Box Office 2024 witnessed five biggies from Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter in January, followed by Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan, Maidaan, Akshay Kumar & Tiger Shroff...

For the third consecutive weekend, Inside Out 2 held onto the top spot of the box-office weekend; albeit besting the second film by a mere $4.4 million.

In its third weekend of release, Inside Out 2 brought in $57.4 million for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. This brings the film’s three-week total to an impressive $469.3 million. Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures enjoyed a $53.0 million debut from A Quiet Place: Day One that landed the film in second place. Actors Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa’s upcoming film ‘Jatt & Juliet 3’ is set to hit the big screen worldwide on June 28. Diljit took to X and Instagram to make the announcement, sharing two posters from the Punjabi film directed by Jagdeep Sidhu.

He captioned it: “Fateh and Pooja are back. Jatt & Juliet 3 releasing worldwide June 28.”

‘Jatt & Juliet’, a romantic comedy directed by Anurag Singh, was first released in 2012.

A year later, the second instalment was released. Even though Diljit and Neeru’s characters were reprised, the story was not directly linked to the previous film.

Diljit’s latest offering, ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, which was released on a streaming portal, received high praise.

The film, directed by Imtiaz Ali, was based on the eponymous singer, considered controversial over the themes he made his songs on.

Popular Indian actor and singer-songwriter Diljit Dosanjh has signed a deal with Warner Music to amplify his global music career.

Coming up are singles with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez and Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz, who revealed a partnership with Warner Music last year.

As an actor, Dosanjh’s hit Punjabi-language films include “Honsla Rakh,” “Jatt & Juliet,” “Jatt & Juliet 2,” “Punjab 1984,” “Sardaar Ji,” “Super Singh,” “Sajjan Singh Rangroot” and “Shadaa.” He debuted in the Hindi-language Bollywood film industry with the critical and commercial success “Udta Punjab” and went on to co-star in “Good Newwz,” alongside Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Kiara Advani.

Neon and QC Entertainment announced they have partnered to make an as-yet untitled horror film from first-time feature director Bishal Dutta.

The story is based partially on Indian legend, partially on a personal family story from Dutta’s grandfather and partially on the filmmaker’s experience being born in India and moving to and being raised in America.

QC Entertainment, the producers of “Get Out” and “BlacKkKlansman,” will co-finance the film with Raymond Mansfield and Sean McKittrick producing with Edward H. Hamm Jr. executive producing. Neon will co-finance and executive produce. Megan Suri, Neeru Bajwa (“Jatt & Juliet”), Vik Sahay and Betty Gabriel (“Get Out”) will star in the original horror film. Principal photography is scheduled to start today in Vancouver, in association with British Columbia based Brightlight Pictures. Neon will distribute the film in the U.S.
