In the tranquil town of Murbruck, a world is collapsing: in the morning, the well-respected Rudi Stiegler and his private bank go bankrupt, and in the evening he dies in his own house in a robbery. The rescuers called by his wife Lore arrive too late. Although the cause of death is clearly a heart attack, the burglars do not appear to be entirely innocent. For Commissioner Sascha Bergmann and his colleague Anni Sulmtaler, the whole thing looks like a criminal case. Anyone who is now without money is a possible perpetrator - from craftsmen to ice hockey clubs. The Viennese financial auditor Markus Tauber could also have something to do with the windy business. After all, for years he overlooked a pyramid scheme that allowed Stiegler to offer his customers overly high interest rates.
