Last only one season but a very funny comedy/crime about a detective agency owned by Marissa Wong (Grace Lynn Kung) who is selfish, cynical but with a great heart.
Her assistant who Marissa refuse to admit as her assistant and call her as driver is Sarah Winchester (Sofia Banzhaf). The duo is hilarious and a total oposite of each other.
The dialogue is well written and a strong part in this series.
Grace Lynn Kung and Sarah Winchester have a excelent perfomance in they roles.
Grace in particular with her facial expressions is hilarious.
Perhaps by not being a american series (canadian series) they didn't have the attention they deserved . Highly recomended series.

Love the character arcs for both of them. It is getting better with each new episode. As Wong and Winchester grow on each other, they grow on you.
The mysteries are not too hard. You are following along as they solved the case of the week.
I find the episodes refreshing and the plot unexpected.
While we know Marissa formerly had a career in law enforcement, we need to know more about Sarah's background.
I am sure we will find out what her skillsets are to make her a good detective and good partner for Marissa.
We are also getting to see Gary's background come forward. It would be nice to find out how these two formed a partnership.

I have to say I love the show - it doesn't take itself too seriously - doesn't hide the fact that it's Canada - the interplay between the characters is fabulous - like any great "family" dynamic there is an undercurrent of respect whatever the "words" might be.
The character of Marissa Wong Is loud and brash - partly because she's fighting her own demons - but she is good at what she does
The character of Sarah Winchester is positive and eager - lots of ideas but unsure of herself which provides a perfect foil for Marissa
Marissa's business partner, Gary Johnson brings them together and provides another foil for Marissa
It's fun, tongue-in-cheek and an enjoyable way to spend an hour.

"Wong & Wincester" is a captivating blend of comedy and crime drama that manages to both entertain and engage with its sharp writing, memorable characters, and intriguing storylines. One of the standout features of "Wong & Wincester" is its clever writing. The dialogue is witty and snappy, filled with clever banter that keeps you engaged.
Each episode presents a new case that brings out the unique strengths (and weaknesses) of both Wong and Wincester, providing plenty of opportunities for character development alongside the overarching plot.
The character development in "Wong & Wincester" is another highlight. Their evolving partnership creates a rich tapestry of interaction, complete with moments of tension, humor, and camaraderie that resonates. Supporting characters are also well-crafted, adding depth to the storyline and often stealing the scene with their own quirks and stories.

Could it be improved upon? Of course, but it's only got the one season.
All it needs is a a second season to flesh out some character development, then a third with a bigger name to attract more viewers. Maybe a guest star, like a harried gas jockey from town from Saskatchewan played by Brent Butt or something. Maybe an in-need retired defense lawyer threatened by an ex-client played by Sonja Smits.
Perhaps a certain guest star that hung out at a Mosque from a flat part of Canada ;) Otherwise, great cast, decent scripts. Not astonishing, but on par with Hudson and Rex or a more comedic Rookie Blue. An enjoyable guilty pleasure.
