Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz

I have to say, I was surprised at how good "Tom and Jerry meet Sherlock Holmes" was for a Tom and Jerry movie, but seeing this timeless classic with a Tom and Jerry twist made my heart soar. "Tom and Jerry and the Wizard of Oz" took me by surprise on how it stayed true to the story and "Tom and Jerry" lore at the same time. There were no big unnecessary changes (besides the addition of a certain Munchkin mouse, but Kath Soucie is still good) and the voice-acting is excellent, with Grey DeLisle as Dorothy and Rob Paulsen as the Tin Man, etc. The one problem I had was that it was too short. But to each its own, and I am glad to see a (sort-of) renovation to such a timeless tale that I will never forget.

Much like with Willy Wonka, this was a movie nobody asked for. The two don't really go together that well. It's long, boring and just a huge rehash of the story we all knew and grew up to love mixed with the duo's antics every few scenes.

Much like most of them skip it.

I found this rather charming. You have elements of The Wizard of Oz movie including the songs in a cartoon form. Tom and Jerry pop in for their own take of the adventure.

I thought this might not work, be all rather cheesy and uninspiring. I was pleasantly surprised and found it fun.

Now I've been a massive fan of Tom and Jerry since I was a kid and this love is one of my best memories with these characters. After rewatching it, I still find myself enjoying this movie as an adult.

Positives for Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz (2011): There is some fun to be had seeing these characters and their shenanigans taking place within the 1939 movie. The animation is always constantly great in these Tom and Jerry movies. And finally, you still get the classic running gags that these characters are known for and how they constantly survive them over and over again.

Negatives for Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz (2011): It is literally the same movie as it was back in 1939 only with Tom and Jerry thrown into the mix. The little gray mouse following Tom and Jerry on this journey was unbearably annoying. I also really annoyed with how dead ass serious Droopy Dog was with his job trying to guard the Wicked Witch of the West.

Overall, if you want to see Tom and Jerry in The Wizard of Oz (1939), then this is the movie for you. As for me, I had a decent time with the premise.

One of the most delightful children's films ever made. I'd go so far as to say that it's my favourite Wizard of Oz spinoff! Love this. Would highly recommend.
