Desert Rose

It's hard to watch without cringing at least a few times every episode. Very few likeable characters, very few redeemable moments, a lot of strung out moments you just wish could find its conclusion, predictable plot and nudity thrown in for shock value. Soundtrack has its ups and downs, but generally it's the only redeemable part about the series for me.

What a great series. It captures the essence of what it is trying to portray perfectly. The dryness and the dust and the drama of a dorpie (small town) and plaas (farm) and the familys that try eek out a living there. You root for the Greylings right from the start...regardless of all the trouble they are in and cause. Very authentic. If you have ever been to the region you will appreciate this series even more. The acting is pretty outstanding and the range of characters is vast. The theme song is unique and catchy. Like all good dramas it builds to the climax in the last episode. Very very good. Please please let there be a second season.
