Wow, I was so impressed with this movie. I will admit that the first 20 minutes were pretty generic for me and I found myself thinking, "This is pretty much what I expected, but it's a free screening so just enjoy it." However, once Reynolds and Jackson team up on the screen the entire chemistry of the movie changes and it ended up being one of the funnest "buddy cop" movies I've seen in quite a while. (I know it technically isn't a buddy cop movie, but it really is for all intents and purposes.) The movie doesn't take itself seriously (were you really expecting that with Reynolds and Jackson?!), and just like any modern action/comedy the plot isn't meant to be something like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. This movie is 100% worth spending the cash to go see in the theater with a group of people. I can also tell you this, the atmosphere leaving the theater was great; this movie is a lot of fun!
Pulp fiction meets deadpool, not as intense as both films, but a great watch and very funny. Sarcasm all the way.
Action, laughter, and epicness are all that the duo of Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson deliver in the film "Hard to Handle," directed by Patrick Hughes, a master of action films known for films like "Red Hill" and "The Expendables 3," both of which are pure action. However, this one is different from his other projects because it incorporates a comedy element.
This film tells the story of Michael, played by Ryan Reynolds, a world-renowned bodyguard until one of his clients dies and his career is destroyed. Years later, an Interpol agent needs his support protecting Darius Kincaid, played by Samuel L. Jackson, a murderer who is temporarily released from prison to testify in the trial of Vladislav Dukhovich, a corrupt politician from Belarus. The latter will do everything possible to ensure that Darius doesn't make it to court, since if he does, he'll lose the case.
This film is obviously not new to the genre. There are already several films with similar duos, such as "Bad Boys," "Blind Spy," or "Ride Along the Way," where one is a comedy and the other an actioner. The downside to these films is that the action is often overshadowed by the comedy, which is why these films end up being PG-13. However, this film is rated B-15 because they managed to understand and achieve an exceptional balance between action and comedy, with very well-planned choreography and very well-executed scenes.
In this film, the star actors play the same roles they always do: Ryan Reynolds plays the role of an action figure who handles sarcasm, Samuel L. Jackson is an action machine, and Salma Hayek plays a Latina woman with a few stereotypes. The acting is fine, as it's what they know how to do, but it's not the big novelty or change in this production.
In conclusion, this film is good, but not great. Although it has very well-done action scenes and the jokes don't feel forced at any point, the performances don't disappoint. However, I would recommend watching it in English or with subtitles, since the dubbing isn't that good.

Just watched a sneak preview of The Hit-man's Bodyguard. I had high expectations given the cast of Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson. The movie exceeded these expectations! Over the top comedy and action -- best combination since Deadpool last year. Definitely worth watching!
I'm a long-time IMDb user, but this movie was so good, I felt I needed to get an IMDb login so I could review it!
Top movie I've seen this year, edging out Baby Driver!

Ryan Reynolds in a buddy movie with Samuel Jackson!? As you can imagine I had very high hopes for this and they were expanded further by the trailer and brilliant promotion material including The Bodyguard (1992) spoof poster.
Within the first 15 minutes I was already appeased, Ryan Reynolds is one of those few guys who just has "It" the natural comedic timing, uncanny charisma and acting ability to boot.
The movie is charming, hilarious, action packed and riotous fun.
Also featuring Salma Hayek, Elodie Yung and briefly the highly underrated English legend Richard E Grant.
Yes it does follow a formula you'll be familiar with, you won't see anything you probably haven't seen before and it's very "Hollywood" but in this case that is just fine.
Competently made, brilliantly performed and with a kicking soundtrack to boot.
I dislike action films as a rule but some of the sequences even got my blood pumping and being a comedy action a witty quip would always follow.
Though not ground breaking The Hitmans Bodyguard is a great piece of fun cinema.
The Good:
Decent chemistry between leads
Ryan Reynolds is an entertainment god
Elodie Yung
Well crafted soundtrack
The Bad:
Clichéd and a tad predictable
Things I learnt from this movie:
Mother f**ker is beyond a catchphrase for Jackson now

- ट्रिवियाGary Oldman learned to speak fluent Russian for his role as the villain Dukhovich. Despite no prior knowledge of Russian, Oldman was required to speak it expertly in the film. "I probably could have learned 'Hamlet' measure for measure in the time that I've spent on my lines," he laughed. Nevertheless, working with a Russian coach daily, Oldman did just that.
- गूफ़When Professor Asimov testified at the trial that Dukhovich killed his wife and child, Dukhovich's attorney objected that this was hearsay and the court granted the objection and excluded the testimony. The testimony was not hearsay. Hearsay is testifying about what someone else said happened. Asimov was testifying about events that he directly witnessed and the testimony should have been allowed.
