I believe that this could've just been a short film and landed better with the audience. There was no inciting incident. No climax until the very end. No falling action. No resolution. The performances didn't land. At times it felt like they were just reading from the script. Some scenes were too long, and some scenes you could cut from the film, and it wouldn't change the story.
Some things I did like were the shock I felt at the ending, though too abrupt. I also liked the introduction of Tom and the very first scene, although I would've done it differently by having the last scene as the first scene too and building upon it to show how we got there.

This film is a pseudo documentary, a genre usually associated with horror films. The idea of exploring the relationship between a man wrongly imprisoned for 20 years and the former best friend whose wife he was falsely convicted of raping and murdering is a great idea for a film and the pseudo documentary style adds to the suspense as it explores inherent problems with the justice system and takes an unexpected turn at the end. The problem is that this is a low budget indie film with some (not all) lightweight actors and very corny and gratuitous dialogue that seems to be there for no reason other than dragging out the running time to 90 minutes. There is a very praiseworthy 60-minute short student film in here, but the extraneous 30-minutes of trite cliche dialogue is cringeworthy and insufferable when you're paying to stream it.

The movie was interesting. Heather Langenkamp did an amazing job, all the actors were terrific. The overall flow of the film was intriguing. I highly recommend this movie. I felt the story was well written with details that kept you interested. I am a huge fan of crime shows and documentaries, so this was exactly the type of film that I pick for my casual viewing. I was all in from the very beginning of the film., which is unusual for me. I am the type that will play games on my phone as I am watching a movie. This was not the case while watching 'PLEA", I was all in from the beginning. I originally only watching due to Heather Langenkamp being in the movie but it was great all the way through. She was just the added bonus for me.
