When I sat down to watch the 2014 horror comedy "Teen Lust", here late in 2022, I had never heard about the movie. But with it being a movie that I hadn't seen, of course I opted to give it a go.
Writers Jason Stone and Blaine Thurier managed to put together a script and storyline that was actually entertaining and funny at the same time. And the story also had elements of horror and some lovely goofy takes on a Satanic cult, while it also had the feel of an archetypical adolescence coming-of-age comedy, much akin to, for example, "American Pie".
Something that really impressed me about director Blaine Thurier's movie was the fact that the movie had Cary Elwes on the cast list. When I first saw him I wasn't sure if it was actually him, so I had to peruse IMDb and saw that it was actually him. He was so well-cast for the role and just made the movie all the more enjoyable with his performance.
"Teen Lust" also had nice performances by the likes of Jesse Carere, Daryl Sabara, Annie Clark, Jon Dore and Emmanuelle Vaugier. So there was a pretty nice cast ensemble here to entertain you.
I was genuinely entertained by "Teen Lust", and it is a movie that definitely is worth watching. Not a classic comedy, but a worty movie of having seen.
My rating of "Teen Lust" lands on a six out of ten stars.

I thought the premise of the film was lending itself to some fun. I was imagining a mix of magic used for pornographic reasons and devil ridden apostles trying to kill the protagonist. But in the end it was just uneventful, unsuspenseful and unfunny.
There isn't more I can say about it, except to fill the mandatory (and pointless!) ten lines, not because I can't find something, but because there really isn't anything worth telling. I think Jesse Carere is a talented young actor that was completely wasted on a really weak script.
Bottom line: waste of time.

Funny and fun. It felt like a horror movie version of Superbad, but not as good.
Some of it was clunky, but overall it was really entertaining. Torn between 6-7/10
The lead was a little too flat as the straightman, which is a bummer since his buddy was great on screen and it would have been nice if there was a little more chemistry between them.
Story and ending themselves were both fun. The last scene they stuck on the end was super bad though. They should have ended it when the story came to a conclusion or had a better epilogue.

Walking into this film I expected another dumb American Pie wannabe. But I was pleasantly surprised. So basically the film is about a teenager, Neil, who's parents are part of a church that wants him to never lose his virginity. However he soon discovers the church practices satanism and wants to sacrifice him to Satan. He flees with his friend Matt and they try to get Neil to lose his virginity and save the world. The cast give good performances, Cary Elwes steals the show as the leader of the church, and Darryl Sabara (Juni from Spy Kids) provides most of the film's laughs. Also the characters feel realistic. So yeah I give Teen Lust a 7/10 and if you like horror comedies or just want some good laughs I recommend this film.
My girlfriend and I saw this movie as part of a film festival in our city last week. We went in not knowing much more than a quick tag line, and weren't expecting much from a relatively low-budget Canadian production.
The storyline involves an 18-year-old student whose parents belong to a Satanic cult. After realizing that they want to sacrifice him because of his virgin blood, he sets out on a mission to lose his virginity by sunrise. Think "American Pie" meets "Superbad".
Having low expectations, I'm happy to say we were quite surprised with it. There were plenty of laughs and we were all chuckling a lot by the end. The two lead actors have a great rapport, probably due to them being good friends in real life, and all the others in supporting positions are just enough to keep things moving along at a good pace. A huge plus is that the movie never takes itself too seriously, and manages to poke fun at a lot of things at once.
We were also lucky enough to hear the director, producer, and one of the cast members (Annie Clark) talk about the creation of the film a bit. They were all quite personable and funny, which explains the tongue-in-cheek humour of the movie a lot.
All in all, it's absolutely worth the 90 minutes or so. It's no Shakespeare, but solid nonetheless!
