फ़ीचर्ड समीक्षाएं
From start to finish, this animated romp is an absolute delight. The music? Spot on. The characters? Fabulous and full of life. And the story? A wildly fun journey through Maxxie's origin that had us howling with laughter and cheering for more. Whether you're a longtime drag fan or just discovering the world, this is a must-see celebration of queerness, creativity, and power.
The writing was sharp and witty-we literally laughed out loud multiple times-and the Maxxie LaWow universe is bursting with potential. We're already counting down the days until the sequel!
Long live Maxxie LaWow, we want more!

I had the beautiful experience of watching this awesome film with my family at the Roxie in San Francisco during the film festival. It was sublime, partly due to the wonderful, lively SF community present at the premiere and partly due to the film itself: a fun, refreshing, and clever adventure!
My whole family loved the story, characters, and the sheer love for the subject that is felt in every little touch of this wonderful picture. Our only gripe was that the pacing of the dialog could have been a little tighter -- there are some pauses while we wait for the other character to respond. However, that is minor: the film truly shines with amazing creative talent, truly AWESOME voice acting, great animated characters, an engaging story, and a big heart.
But what really makes this film stand out is how apropos it is with the current mainstream politics, which aims to destroy and diminish our beautiful diversity and dictate who we love and how. God knows we need Maxxie today more than ever to help fight the good fight against the latest incarnation of bigotry and intolerance. This film is the perfect antidote to fight evil insanity -- it will make you feel hopeful and put a smile on your face! But don't get me wrong: it's not a political film at all -- it's a celebration of all that is wonderful about drag and the LGBTQ community, an invitation to embrace our diversity, and an act of pure love.

We had a blast watching this film at the Roxie in San Francisco. It is an epic tale of a super hero drag queen featuring an amazing selection of drag stars as the voices. The story is an inspirational tale encouraging everyone to believe in themselves and celebrate our individual uniqueness. Along with the rest of the audience, my son (13) & I laughed through the whole movie at the clever campy drag humor. The animation is vivid and glamorous (a fabulous mix of Jem & the Holograms meets Power Puff Girls). For any drag queen fan families out there it's a must see! My son and I highly recommend!
Maxxie LaWow: Drag Super-Shero is a massive success for the queens of 2024 and 2025! I was afforded the immense pleasure of watching this film at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco among a lively crowd of all the beautiful community for which it was meant.
The animation and art direction are bright, poppy, and optimistic, complemented perfectly by the vocal talents of Grant Hodges, Erika Ishii, Terren Wooten Clarke, and a dazzling plethora of supporting actors. Wooten Clarke steals the show as Dyna Bolical, an Evil Queen worthy of the capitalizations in her campy reflection of vanity reminiscent of Snow White's ill intentioned stepmother.
The overall story decision to link the drag persona with the superhero alter ego is additionally inspired! Simon's coming of age through the combined fairy godmothers of Jae, Mama Mumu, and one very Jim Carrey-the-Mask-esque wig found in the back alley dreaded by every entry-level employee who's ever lived feels as real as the tales we lived through in our baby gay eras, unsure or insecure of the star power we all learn to possess.
I won't spoil much more, but I'll leave you with this note: if you ever wondered how Beaches could possibly get more tragic and somehow more hilarious, you won't be wondering much longer. Maxxie LaWow wows, to the max.

An animated drag queen superhero? Sounds like something cooked up in a focus group. But this movie's got style for days. The animation's like a mash-up of all those Saturday morning cartoons we used to veg out to, but cranked up to 11. It's trippy in all the right ways.
The story is of an insecure barista who transforms into this badass drag queen superhero. The villain is called Dyna Bolical - I mean, come on, that's just clever.
The voice acting's solid. Pretty sure I recognized some legit drag queens in there. They nailed the whole campy vibe without making it too cheesy. It's the kind of flick you can watch with your buddies or your family to have a some fun.
There's a message about being yourself and all that, but it doesn't beat you over the head with it. It's got heart without being sappy. The original songs are fun and add to the drag show vibe without being a drag on the action (couldn't resist).
Maxxie LaWow: Drag Super-shero is worth your time. Grab a beer, order a pizza, and give it a shot. You might be surprised.
