On January 21, 2020, Disney Channel gave the series, then titled Ultra Violet & Blue Demon, a cast-contingent pilot order. On August 2, 2021, it was announced that the title had been changed to Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion.
The series was filmed in New Orleans using a single-camera.
On April 28, 2022, it was announced that the series would premiere on June 3, 2022. The first ten episodes were then released on Disney+ on June 8, 2022. On November 18, 2022, it was reported that the series was canceled after one season due to low viewership and ratings.
This is Brandon Rossel's second Disney Channel series following his role in the miniseries Fast Layne (2019).
This is the third Disney Channel sitcom/comedy series to end after one season after So Random! (2011) and Fast Layne (2019).
