Unsurprisingly, this got banned in its home country for being thought provoking, controversial to the general population of its home country.

The movie tells of Aishah, a teenager from a Malay-Muslim, but very open family, who has a terminally ill mother.

She seeks out the meaning of death, and beyond - and find the support of a very loving, and more importantly open-minded Malay family and friends that allows and encourages her to explore and find answers.

The movie touches on many of the narrative of the proported soclal norms in Malaysia, mainly the many 'forbiddens' expected of a Malay family, moreover a girl.

It is thought provoking, and the movie approaches them in a respectful manner - being almost too cautious on how it will be received by the more conservative views of its home country.

But nevertheless all that is mute, since regardless 2 years after its initial release, it got banned / revoked from circulation from its home country for likely too thought provoking.

If you're able to find it on various streaming platforms, go watch it. Frankly it was done very well given what appeears very likely how low budget the film must have been, and it was unlikely any studio investors in its home country would've dare to touch producing it with a long pole. I am impressively surprised on the wonderful treatment of the how beautiful Malaysian multi-racial society could be, as the movie would have liked it portrayed. Of course, those subscribing to the official narrative would undoubtly condemn this movie for its progressive treatment of the Malaysian society.

I did not know what to expect when watching this movie so I went it it completely blank and I loved the way the movie unravelled. It exceeded my expectation.

Do not misunderstand, this is not a religious movie. It is a slice of life movie about a school girl who just wants to understand the meaning of life and death to cope with the thought of losing her mother. If you allow your mind to be open, there are many layers to this film that to me makes it very relatable. I think the various references of beliefs made the movie a lot more inclusive and it shows how similar we all are. It also challenges the concept that your religion is what you practice, not who you are. You can be curious but still love your beliefs.

If you are easily offended with movies that challenge your thought and perspective than it is not for you. To me an A++ movie that deserved more recognition than scrutiny.

Everyone has and deserves the freedom to do as they wish - as long as they do not harm others.

Your belief and religion is your own personal truth.

I can see why many would be offended. I recommend that those who feel so not to watch this film.

It's a painful soul searching that happens when a close one passes on. Some are attached, some let go.

It is not for closed minds or religious extremists. It is not for those who find their faiths shaken by a single movie. It is not for those who see their way as the only correct way.

I have not watched this film in it's entirety. I will as soon as I get a chance.

I love how this film brings up a topic that has also been on my mind: the afterlife.

As a muslim, i have my own controversial thoughts about how the afterlife should be. But this changed after i watched this film. Aside from religious beliefs, here i realized that people's expectations of the afterlife might ne differ based on their life experiences.

I also love how the title gives us a hint about the main character's religious choice after the movie ends. If you know, you know.

In short, this film is interesting. It teaches about parenting, how well you understand your religion, how to handle grief, or even about finding yourself. Would highly recommend it!

If you see a movie that is penalized by the Malaysia Entertainment board, you know its gonna be good.

The movie is thought provoking and challenging the topics that are otherwise kept hidden away by the Malaysia society. Speaking the unspoken when it should rightly be publicly discussed and not shy away in the name of "harmony" (and the movie IS harmonious). It brings out the topic that Malaysians face everyday yet pretended to be harmonious on the surface level but deep down criticizing and hating on people of other culture, race and religion. This is exactly the kind of movie Malaysia need MORE.

Kudos to the young team that made this movie who is not afraid of persecution from the extremes.
