Sotto il sole di Amalfi

It's a really good movie for ages 13 and up there are some stuff in here the younger kids don't need to watch but it's a really good movie other than that there's no violence or sex no swear words I wouldn't necessarily say this is a 10-star rating type movie anywhere around 6:00 or less than that.

Under the amalfi sun or in europe, it's sotto il sole di amalfi. (this seems to be the sequel to under the riccione sun.) from the beautiful amalfi coast of italy! It's the beautiful town of those colorful houses built on the hillside, just south of naples. We've all done the 1000 piece puzzle. It must have been fun to make this film! Vincenzo brings his friends to his family cottage on the coast. Adventure ensues. Each friend has a different relationship status, so it's a bit like the big chill, where emotions run high. And when one of the gang disappears, it creates even more tension. It's okay. Very action driven... we don't really get much backstory (or any story) on any of them. First half is pretty weak, but comes together in the second half. Directed by martina pastori. Not bad for a first full length film. Looks like she has done mostly music vids before this. Which explains the really good music choices in the film.

Pacing is as languid as the Amalfi sun. It could have been a relaxing film what with glorious Amalfi as locale. However, the viewer doesn't get it; what is all the fuss? Midway, I decided to stop watching it. This is unlike past Italian movies that I watched which were entertaining and insightful.

I love Lorenzo Zurzolo's acting skills. All of them were captivating and it was an easy to keep up with movie. On the shorts side but was still very good.

You don't always expect a sequel to a teen movie - at least I didn't in this case to be honest. But obviously there was more to tell - there was more to explore with the characters from the first movie. It feels like this can stand on its own, but it never hurts to have seen the previous movie to maybe enjoy certain character moments even more.

That all being said, we get introduced to new characters as well. There is still teen anxiety (although I reckon the actors themselves are even further removed from the age the characters are supposed to be - shouldn't be too much of an issue while watching though). Age ain't nothing but a number? No pun intended and no I am not trying to connect this with a song.

If you can suspend your disbelief and are ready to go on a summer journey with some likeable but obviously flawed and not yet fully grown characters ... you could do worse. Take the issue with skin one of the characters has - very relatable, even if you never had the issue. You really feel for her.
