The creators and writers of Offspring planned on Season 5 to be the last season with all storylines complete and all main characters finally finding happiness.

But Channel Ten brought in new writers who changed the story and characters for Seasons 6 and 7. As a result loads of fans were left disappointed by Seasons 6 and 7.

The possibility of a season 8 was talked about but didn't come into fruition as most of the main cast wanted to more on to other career opportunities.

Has a spin-off one-shot mini-series called "THE CARAVAN" and a 5 episode webisode series called "St Francis". St Francis is the name of the hospital in Offspring.

The series is filmed in Melbourne's inner-north around the suburbs of Fitzroy and Brunswick.

Many of the cast including Asher Keddie, Kat Stewart, Deborah Mailman, Dan Spielman, Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, and Alicia Gardiner appeared in the groundbreaking TV show The Secret Life of Us (2001)
