The series demonstrates the "CSI effect" in a rather amusing way. The UK doesn't have CSIs, never has, but even the Crime Scene Manager uses the acronym because the franchise put the letters in people's heads. The UK has SOCOs - Scene Of Crime Officers, forensics, and scientific support - no acronym is used.

(The CSI effect is usually seen in juries' unreasonable expectations of evidence, and in criminals knowledge of forensics.)

It should be noted that criminologists are not psychiatrists, or even psychologists. They're basically sociologists who only study crime. It criminal psychologists who study the psychology of criminals.
