First super hero movie from Maghreb

It's not a marvel but a good start that will encourage other African countries to make more syfy movies and tell more African stories.

I loved this movie; it's the first Moroccan superhero! It showcases our culture with incredible costumes and sets right in the heart of Moroccan traditions and customs. Frankly, 10 out of 10 for this film, and I hope this is just the beginning. The song of the artistes soprano at the beginning are icredible
It highlights Africa and all its splendor. For a first film by Anouar Moatassim, I feel recognized as an African.
I saw this film a few months ago and I'm shocked by some of the poor reviews.
It has a solid story, though not without some writing issues, and a solid cast of well-represented actors for the region; this is Hollywood NOT a white-washed adaptation, it's the first African superhero movie, made by a cohort of African and Afro-diasporic creatives.
Is it as visually stunning or star-studded as the first Ironman? No. But the budget isn't 150million either.
It's a great showing on a low budget.
It's also an important spotlight to keep an eye on - the talent and production quality in this region is on the rise.

As an educator working with young kids from the diaspora, I found *Atoman* to be a powerful and inspiring film. While it may not be a blockbuster like Marvel, its strength lies in its important message to change the narrative and provide representation for communities that often go unnoticed. The film truly judges from the perspective of the kids and their experiences, offering a fresh and authentic voice. It's a commendable effort to empower young minds and promote cultural pride. Highly recommended for anyone looking to see stories that matter and reflect diverse reality.
Atoman, the first superhero movie from the Maghreb, is more than just a cinematic milestone-it's a cultural awakening. Co-produced by the talented Aicha, this film marks a historic moment for North African storytelling in the sci-fi genre.
Directed by Anouar Moatassim and starring Lartiste as Hakim Imlil, Atoman follows a young hacker who discovers his Atlantean roots and transforms into a modern-day protector. It's a classic hero's journey wrapped in a distinctly Moroccan identity, enriched with Amazigh and Arab mythologies. The villain, played by Samy Naceri, adds weight and intrigue, while the beautiful landscapes and immersive soundtrack make Morocco not just a setting, but a character of its own.
What truly makes Atoman special is its spirit. It's not trying to be Marvel-and that's its strength. It's raw, authentic, and filled with heart. The breathtaking scenery and culturally infused story serve as a love letter to Morocco and a bold invitation for African filmmakers to tell their own stories.
Special applause must go to Aicha, whose work behind the scenes helped shape this gem. Her vision and passion as co-producer helped bring Atoman to life, showing what's possible when bold dreams meet action.
Here's to more African sci-fi, more daring ideas, and more trailblazers like Aicha and Anouar.
Bravo à toute l'équipe. Allez au suivant, la famille! 💎🇲🇦
