As It Happened: Tarawa

In November 1943 US Marines invade the Japanese-held island of Tarawa. It is strongly defended and every yard gained will involve an incredible struggle.

A very interesting documentary, detailing the Tarawa campaign. Shows well just how tough an assignment it was for the Marines, the practical difficulties they faced, the tenacity of the Japanese defenders and the hard slog it was for every bit of ground.

Well narrated with relevant, insightful interviews and decent graphics and archival footage.
