Wyrmwood: Apocalypse

Basically picks up right where Wrymwood: Road of the Dead (2014) left off and feels like just a solid continuation of the same post-apocalyptic zombie story. Equally as gorey, corny, well-shot, action-packed, and even more over the top.

If Road of the Dead was similar to Evil Dead, this is Evil Dead 2.

Finally a zombie movie with some brains! From the writers that is!! Smart people knowing what to do and how to take advantage of the situation! Love it! Very exciting!

Geared up with the same playful exuberance of it's predecessor, Wyrmwood: Apocalypse boast some wild photography, gleefully crafted gore and some truely brilliant set pieces. But sadly lacks the charm and humour that helped make the first film what it was.

Protagonists of the original were sidelined and replaced for a great deal of the movie, but any new characters where given very little development. Too little to be fully invested in their archs as a whole. Which is a shame as there are some amazing new characters played by some truely talented actors.

That being said, I liked what I saw, it was a massive amount of fun and I will be watching out for more!

The sequel plot is not original like the first one. But the action and gore factor is par with the first part. The zombie gore and action blocks are unique for this movie and enjoyable one.

Must watch for Zombie lovers...

Wyrmwood: Apocalypse was a big disappointment for me. After how much fun and creativity the first film had, I was expecting something equally wild, but this sequel just didn't deliver. The story felt messy and confusing, and the main characters from the first movie hardly appeared, which made it feel disconnected. Instead of being thrilling, it dragged on and even made me sleepy at times. Sadly, it lacked the energy and originality that made the original such a cult hit. My rating: 5/10.
