The physical presence of the child in the film, shown resting in the bed briefly, was a life-size replica of the infamous Chucky doll.

The director of the film, Abraham Fieldsend, decided to break the 180-degree filmmaking rule in the build up to the final scene, using it as a visual metaphor to enhance one of the hidden themes of the movie and to hint at the unnatural horror to come.
