Preetam revolves around a milkman living in a rural area of Konkan, Maharashtra, who struggles to deal with his dark skin. Exploring the question of whether outer beauty really matters, the film follows his search for love.

Caring, hard working and someone running a successful business - Preetam is seemingly the ideal youngster of the village. However, he is mocked at and called names by the villagers due to his dark skin tone. Things change when the beautiful Suvarna comes to the village.

The story of the film is based on a true story. Preetam (Pranav Raorane), worn out by constant taunts about his skin tone, nearly accepts his fate without resistance. Mocked by his village, including friends and family, his self-esteem plummets despite his helpful nature and success. When Suvarna (Nakshatra Medhekar) arrives, it's love at first sight, or so it seems. Preetam convinces everyone they're in love, even providing proof. But is it real or a farce? The truth reveals itself in the second half, setting an intriguing pace.
