I tried

I am a black woman and marvel fan from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. I tried to give this a chance when RDJ gave her well wishes on someone's show. This didn't keep my attention at all. The story doesn't make sense or add up. I left it alone thinking maybe I was already preoccupied to give it my full attention. That wasn't it! How are you doing crimes in a suit that more than your college, neighborhood, colleagues, the news, family, and random people on the street know about? Marvel throws people together.... I love me some Manny Montana (Good Girls- iykyk) and Anthony Ramos is cool but who are the rest of these people? It seems like Marvel falls short when it comes to women in their movies (Captain Marvel, Madame Web) besides Wanda and Widow. Anyway... I have no plans to finish watching it and removed it from continued watching on Disney plus. It's a No for me!

Nope! Just No

Truly disappointing, could they not find a better actress for the main character?!? The screenwriters were either lazy, bored, or 9 year olds.

Some poor choices of supporting actors too. Dialogue is diabolical.

The suit looks good and the visual effects are good with some nice touches in the choreography and music is tastefully selected, but overall it does not save the train wreck of a series this is.

The imaginary Tony Stark would be spinning in his grave, I know Stan Lee would be - a poor homage to Iron Man.

Probably the worst of the bunch, truly bad taste. I have seen TV adverts better written and executed.

It's meh

It looks slick but it suffers from the same issue all the new marvel stuff does.

It's emotionally flat as a pancake and doesn't connect with the people watching.

It makes the same mistakes of going for making a statement at the cost of the story and characters.

Neither the character development or the story are developed remotely enough to make us care and in fact do the opposite much of the time.

Someone likely realized this which is why it got shelved so long.

It's not acolyte or snow white levels of bad its just meh.

It's a shame really the people involved deserved better but they may have already know it was bad.

Disgrace to Marvel's legacy

I wanted to like Ironheart; I truly did. The idea of a new generation stepping into the world of armored heroes, inspired by the greatest innovator the MCU has ever known, is brimming with potential. Yet, as I watched the series unfold, my initial excitement curdled into a persistent annoyance that lasted until the final credits rolled. For me, the show failed on several fundamental levels, creating a frustrating experience that felt less like an homage and more like a betrayal of the very universe I've been invested in since the beginning. My core issues aren't with a new character taking the spotlight, but with a protagonist I couldn't root for, a shocking disrespect for legacy, and a complete waste of fantastic villains.

My primary struggle was with the main character, Riri Williams. Throughout the entire series, I found myself baffled by her choices. It felt like I was watching a repeating cycle: she would make a reckless, ill-advised decision, and then, when the inevitable negative consequences arrived, the narrative would frame her as the victim. This isn't the complex, flawed heroism I've come to love from Marvel. Think of Peter Parker's constant struggles to balance his life, or Wanda Maximoff's grief-fueled mistakes. Those characters face the weight of their actions and we see them grapple with accountability. With Riri, it felt like the story consistently absolved her, expecting my sympathy without her ever truly earning it through growth. A hero's journey is defined by overcoming their own faults, but I felt Riri's were consistently excused.

However, the moment that turned my annoyance into genuine anger was the show's treatment of Tony Stark's legacy. Have the writers at Marvel forgotten their own story that started it all? The line that essentially dismisses Tony Stark, saying he wouldn't be Iron Man if he wasn't a billionaire, felt like a slap in the face. It's a fundamental misunderstanding of the character and the entire point of his arc. We all saw him in a cave with a box of scraps, building his first suit out of desperation and sheer genius. His wealth was a part of his story, but it wasn't the source of his heroism. His intellect, his grit, and his ultimate sacrifice were what made him Iron Man. To reduce his entire journey to his bank account felt like the show was deliberately tearing down a foundational hero just to prop up a new one, and I found it deeply disrespectful.

As if these problems weren't enough, the series completely ruined great villains. I was thrilled at the prospect of seeing a complex antagonist like The Hood brought to life. In the comics, he's a compelling and dangerous figure. In Ironheart, he was rendered almost toothless, a shadow of his potential. But the greatest disappointment for me was Mephisto. After years of fan theories and palpable anticipation for his arrival, his depiction was one of the most anticlimactic events I can recall in the MCU. This powerful, manipulative, and terrifying entity was reduced to a shallow caricature, robbing the story of any real sense of stakes. Great heroes are forged by fighting great villains, and when the antagonists are this poorly handled, the hero's own triumphs feel hollow.

By the end of it all, I was left feeling deflated. My problem isn't change or the introduction of new faces. My problem is watching a show that seems to hold contempt for its own source material. In my eyes, Ironheart took a compelling premise and squandered it by creating an unrelatable protagonist, disrespecting the legacy of a beloved hero, and defanging iconic villains. It's a frustrating watch that, for me, represents a profound misunderstanding of what made so many of us fall in love with this universe in the first place.

Why is everybody hating it

I I recently watched the first three episodes of this series, and I must say that it is definitely superior to a series like "She-Hulk." The acting is commendable, with the cast delivering performances that bring depth and authenticity to their characters. The visual effects are also quite watchable, enhancing the overall viewing experience without overpowering the narrative. The story itself is very decent, offering a compelling plot that keeps viewers engaged and eager to see what unfolds next. I believe that most people are hesitant to accept a new hero in an Iron Suit, as they are accustomed to the iconic Tony Stark. However, this series truly deserves a chance, as it offers a fresh take on the Iron Man legacy.

She's just a bad person

The word superhero has lost all meaning. This character is just a selfish thief. Everything she does serves only herself. She doesn't do anything good for anyone and the story is a compilation of stereotypes. Right off the bat it leans into her being a bad person and feigning decency. I can't believe this got made.

I won't be finishing this series, i have no one to root for. How can you make a protagonist that is so unlikable and expect a different result?

I hope this is a wake up call for the studio but I doubt it. They keep churning out this processed slop and attack the fans when they don't like it.

A Plastic Joke Wearing Tony Stark's Legacy

I honestly don't get how anyone's hyping this up. They killed off Tony Stark for this? To put a kid in a plastic suit and call her a genius just because the script says so?

Tony built his first suit in a freaking cave, with junk, and carried the whole MCU emotionally and narratively. And now we get... a teenager with no charisma, no real arc, everything just handed to her. The story feels flat. The emotions feel forced. And the suits? They look like something from a kids' cosplay contest.

The whole thing feels like a cheap knockoff with no soul. Marvel either doesn't know what it's doing anymore - or just stopped caring.

If this is what the "next generation" of heroes looks like... then yeah, maybe Endgame really was the end.

I thought it was going to suck based on the trailers and things I was hearing...

But after watching it I am shocked how much I was actually into it. I thought they made Riri an actual character I semi care about now. The whole thing with N. A. T. A. L. I. E. Is my favorite part of the show and actually way more interesting than I ever expected. I think the actors in the show are great so far as well. I also love Joe so far I think they can do some fun stuff there too.

This whole criminal heist ring concept is really fun actually. Something to where her genius abilities actually make sense and are useful.

The only thing I'm not exactly sold on yet is The Hood I was wanting some Ghost Rider demonic dark mystical stuff and it's hinting at that but not enough for my liking. I think the character is way more interesting than the show is making him. And Riri's male love interest is kind of one note and not interesting at all but luckily he is barely a presence in the show. I think we could have done without that.

But I love the rest of the crew Slug and Clown are stand outs so far. I love Riri's mom. I love Joe. Love the whole aspect of community being brought into it with the little boy with the wagon and the owner of the garage.

And I think the trauma of her past is ok not incredibly compelling but also not terrible either. But so far I'm enjoying it more than some MCU things.

I think people decided to hate it without even watching it. And that's a bummer. I don't think it's the greatest thing ever but I also don't think it deserves a 4 out of 10 that is crazy. It is infinitely more entertaining and enjoyable than that. I'd say it's about a 7.5-7.8.

Did you even watch the show?

The quality production is fairly good in terms of CGI, which often lacks when it comes to TV shows vs film-and the performances are amazing. Realistically, even if you didn't like one of these aspects, the strengths of the show deserve a 5/10 for sheer quality. Boring people without a sense of individual taste who rate blindly based on internet trends have been given too large a platform for simply having the loudest voices.

The opening setup is clunky at times, and the dialogue had to push some concepts forward in episode 1, a bit aggressively in order to get Riri from where we last saw her, to where she needed to be for the plot to happen, but I'd give all of ten actors a 10/10. Natalie's actress is especially fantastic. Her mannerisms felt so real, evoking real people I've met- in such a visceral way I felt the unease that she is meant to be a recreation.

Compelling tension and conflict within the first 3 episodes. Even if it tanks from here, it had a fiery start worthy of continuing to watch.

Nothing is Earned

The moral of this show, is you don't have to earn anything.

Riri is amazing, apparently, because everyone says so, but why? Nobody knows, just keep saying she's amazing and it'll stick.

She didn't earn the suit, she's not strong, funny or cool. She's just feels like an NPC who stumbled upon Excalibur laying on the floor and claims she's the king of the world. She helps her fellow students cheat on their tests and projects, seeking her out just to use her to not fail. So she didn't earn anything and she's surrounded by people who didn't earn anything, in fact everyone is just ripping off everyone else, just like Ironheart is a ripoff of Ironman.

Imagine if you went to the valedictorian of your class and said "make this work for me or I'll fail". What kind of message does that send the audience? That it's okay to get by in life if you just let somebody else do your job for you?? That's insane! Tony Stark was the head of a massive successful business and one of the smartest minds on the planet and he didn't need everyone telling him he's amazing. He built a giant mechanical suit in a cave with junk! He made a tiny reactor to keep his heart from getting shredded! Riri simply stole everything! It's like saying "I'm an architect" just because you can put legos together. Awfully terrible start to a mediocre show.

Overhated Before Release :/

Ironheart is a nicely designed & well written piece of Iron Man-esque mcu content that I, a huge Iron Man fan, have been waiting for, especially since production for Armour Wars is at a halt. The show reminds me of Iron Man Armoured Adventures in a way. RiRi is a very well written character with depth & is played AMAZINGLY by Ms. Dominique Thorne. I'm already upset we only have 6 episodes. There are some weirdly edited sequences & the cast of The Hood's crew was obviously carefully casted in order to appeal to a wide audience range, but aside from those 2 nitpicks, i'm in love with this show. Well Done everyone involved.

Starts out slow but quickly ramps up

If you judge the show by its first episode you will find it slow and unexciting. Thankfully the series gets substantially better in the next two episodes, with episode three being an intense episode that is action packed and lays out an engaging mystery that makes you hungry for the next episode. Hopefully the remaining episodes keep the intensity of episode three going til the very last episode. Having fleshed out supporting characters and plot the writers have given themselves a good foundation from which to work from. The characters are fairly strong with no really weak ones. The big mystery of who the main villain is yet to be revealed, but it looks like they're leading up to a major one.

The absolute piece of garbage

As a lifelong Marvel fan and someone who genuinely admired the growth and sacrifice of Tony Stark, watching Ironheart feels like being spat on for caring.

This series doesn't just fall short - it disrespects the legacy of Iron Man to artificially inflate a character who hasn't earned the suit, the tech, or the respect. Instead of honoring Tony Stark - the genius, billionaire, philanthropist who sacrificed everything - the show takes every opportunity to undermine his legacy. There's a line where Riri says Tony was "nothing without his money." Excuse me?

Tony built the Mark 1 in a cave, while dying, with scraps.

He survived PTSD, took responsibility for his past sins, created new elements, mentored Spider-Man like a father, and saved the entire universe in Endgame. He was more than his money - he was his mind, his heart, and his growth.

This show acts like we forgot that. But we didn't.

Instead of showing Riri Williams learning from Tony's legacy, or striving to live up to it, they turned her into a smug, ungrateful replacement. A character who walks in, acts like she knows better, and immediately claims the spotlight with no build-up. That's not inspiring. That's forced.

You want strong new heroes? Great - earn it.

Let Riri grow, make mistakes, struggle, and rise. Let her respect the ones who came before her. That's called storytelling.

But this? This was lazy writing, weak character development, and an insult to everything the MCU built over 10+ years.

You can't just write off legends to make room for new ones. That's how you lose your audience.

This wasn't a tribute to Iron Man. It was a hit job.

And for that, I'm out.

1 star. And that's generous.

Ruining Tony Stark's legacy

What makes it worse is the show's attempt to erase Tony's legacy rather than celebrate it. Ironheart doesn't treat Tony Stark as a mentor, a blueprint, or even a point of philosophical reflection. Instead, it treats him as an outdated relic-a mere footnote in Riri's story. That's insulting to both the character and the fans who watched him grow over more than a decade of films.

And I get it-new characters need to rise. The torch must be passed. But you don't honor the past by pretending it was irrelevant. You build on it. You respect it. You show that your new hero has something to learn from those who came before. Ironheart skips all that. It acts like it doesn't need the foundation that was built before it. And because of that, it feels hollow.

Solid

Just saw the first three episodes. They're pretty good. The writing is solid, the characters are decent (I think there are too many characters tho) and the story seems interesting. I like that they're not trying to make this Iron Man 2.0. This really is its own thing.

The villain so far is really uninteresting. I thought with time he'd get better, but he's just such a boring character. Hopefully, in the second half of the series he'll be better.

The suit looks amazing and the vfx for it are great. I really, REALLY missed the way the Iron Man suits were before, without the whole nanotech thing, and thank god they brought that back.

I'm excited for the second half of the series.

Garbage-Complete Waste of Time

Oh my those first three episodes were enough for me and I won't be coming back. First off the protagonist of this story can't act but even if she could her character Ree-Ray is insufferable, completely unlikable. She steals when she needs certain things but it's ok because it's for a great cause (right). The supporting actors are really dull and unlikable as well; there's one that's supposed to be intimidating but he's anything but intimidating. The story is horrible, disjointed, and convoluted. I thought I was supposed to be watching a superhero series but the story is all over the place and it's so boring. Oh, and the protagonist is a genius and you'll know because everyone to include herself will let you know.

What are people going on about?

Sorry, but I expected this to be a flop as production was delayed several times and it wasn't looking good. After episode 1 I was genuinely pulled in to watch another, and the next two eps have kept me hooked.

It's Marvel meets Black Mirror in some ways and also has a great cast.

Its only 3 episodes in and people are giving it 1 star?!

Visuals: Stunning Acting: Fantastic Story: Unique and unlike anything Marvel have done before Characters: I mean, Natalie! Come on! Great idea! Not to mention RiRi herself is a really interesting character with depth.

Usually reviews give a very good indication as to what the product will be, but this time I think wait until the whole show is out before giving it a 1 star ffs. I'm really enjoying it! Can't wait for ep 4!

Watch and make up your own mind.

These 1* reviews are not fair. This show or its main character might not be everyone's cup of tea, but in no ways is it as bad as the petulant haters are making out. It's not about "bad writing" or "poor performances" or insults to "Tony Stark's legacy"- it's patently clear what their mission to discredit this show is really about, and in 2025 that just rings pathetic.

Riri is a complex character, and far from one note. The supporting cast is fun, the production quality is great and personally I'm happy to see The Hood brought to life fairly comic accurately. This is a compelling, fun action vehicle, dripping in MCU and Marvel lore, and we're only half way through. It makes me wish we were still getting the Armor Wars show.

This review won't turn the tide of the 1* campaign, but I'll be damned if I let them do to this show what they did to The Acolyte without saying something.

Watch the first two eps at least and make up your own mind. Personally, I'm enjoying it so far.

Stop hating its not bad what so ever.

Ironheart is a refreshing and inspiring addition to the Marvel universe. Riri Williams is a smart, driven young Black woman who embodies resilience, creativity, and the courage to chase her dreams. It's empowering to see a character who doesn't fit the traditional mold become a hero in her own right-not because she was chosen, but because she chose herself.

This show is about more than just action or technology-it's about identity, purpose, and representation. Riri is relatable to anyone who's ever felt underestimated but still pushed forward. The hate she's receiving is disappointing, especially when it's rooted in bias rather than fair critique. Let's uplift stories that reflect the real world and inspire the next generation.

Marvel took a bold and beautiful step with Ironheart. I'm here for it-and I hope others give it a real chance.

Iron Macguffin

Three episodes in and it is clear that this is a story about Riri's life and struggles and not a continuation to the Iron Man series.

Which is good if you like a character driven story, but not if you are looking for an Iron Man reboot.

It did take me a couple of episodes to warm to the character and comparisons to Mr Stark are inevitable, (just look at the amount of 1 votes, seriously if this is the worse thing you have seen then you need to watch Sliver) While both Riri and Stark have the technical genius and arrogance, only Stark has the Flamboyant and confidence that Money buys which lets him get away with it.

Riri's character can come across as unlikable at first and I only saw a warmer side after the creation of the suits onboard computer assistant thing.

The show skips past the design and build stage of the Suit and starts with Riri's struggle to raise the money to get it finished and production ready.

It is also nice to see a mechanical build with no sign of NanoBots so far.

As the built is mostly done as we start the show, its main focus is on how someone without a trust fund can get big money fast.

Basically I'd give this a solid 7 so far and just warn you that the show isn't about passing the IronMan mantel over to Riri, it is story about the characters life and struggles as they try to get their macguffin.
