Marleigh hopes that someday there will be a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. This auto-immune disorder causes the body to attack and kill all of the insulin producing cells and would, therefore, destroy any transplanted pancreas, requiring Type-1 Diabetics to inject insulin into their body to stay alive. There are organizations working towards the creation of an artificial pancreas made up of human cells, that may be able to avoid being rejected by the body. If you want to help find a cure there are many non-profits and research organizations you can donate to or volunteer with. Marleigh marches and fundraises each year with JDRF.
