Exclusive: Dichen Lachman (Severance) has closed a deal to star alongside Jessica Chastain and Jay Duplass in Rob Savage’s new supernatural horror film, based on the book Incidents Around the House by Bird Box‘s Josh Malerman.

Character details are under wraps. Released last June, the book centers on eight-year-old Bela, who lives in a home strained by her parents’ troubled marriage, only to see her life further upended by a sinister entity she calls “Other Mommy.” When this malevolent presence emerges from her closet, persistently asking, “Can I go inside your heart?”, Bela refuses. But soon, Other Mommy’s manifestations become increasingly aggressive, threatening the safety of Bela’s family.

Ark: Survival Ascended can already feel like an out-of-this-world experience, but one mod can make it into a true fantasy world. Ascended has done a good job capturing what made its predecessor good and expanding on it. Though it is not without faults, the game is unarguably a massive improvement. The title's success is helpful given that the highly anticipated sequel has faced considerable delays and still has no concrete launch date. Regardless, the upgraded title is still set to see more Dlc in the near future.

The Princess Diaries starred Anne Hathaway as Mia Thermopolis, who finds out she is actually the heir to the throne to Genovia, a kingdom in Europe. The film, which also starred the iconic Julie Andrews, returned in 2004 with the sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. A third film has been in talks for almost a decade, but now Anne Hathaway confirmed on Instagram she's packing her bags and heading to Genovia again.

Disney Lorcana is going to be releasing its second set, Rise of the Floodborn in just a couple of months and will include another Illumineer's Trove full of goodies as part of the collection's lineup. Animator, director, producer and story artist Burny Mattinson, who joined the Walt Disney Company at the end of its first great run of films, when Dumbo (1941) and Bambi (1942) were new and an in-his-prime Walt Disney was just 42 years old, died today. He was 87. He was the last full-time Walt Disney Studios employee who had worked at the company when Walt Disney still ran it.

Everything Everywhere All at Once truly has it all, including a star-making performance from actress Stephanie Hsu, whose been nominated for an Oscar award for her supporting role in the movie. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has just taken to social media to announce a release change for his upcoming Disney outing Jungle Cruise, which will now debut on Disney+ on the same day as theaters, Friday, July 30. While watching The Mitchells vs. the Machines, I was reminded of a recent trend in animated movies, which is the growing need to make environments look realistic. Technology has increased to the point that animation can almost appear photorealistic. Even if an animated film has characters with exaggerated features, the “realness” of the rest of the film’s production design is often touted as a selling point. Both Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Raya and the Last Dragon and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 leaned into a grounded aesthetic, and many others wear “realism” as a badge of pride in their animation.

The recent news that upcoming Pixar flick, Luca, would follow Soul before it and be released straight to Disney+ has reportedly left those working at the beloved animation studio feeling demoralized. It was recently revealed that Luca, which was originally set to be theatrically released in the United States on June 18, 2021, would skip theaters entirely and would instead be made available to stream on Disney+. The first thing I have to mention is my favorite part of this year’s Dragon Con, and that was spending time with several excellent friends, and particularly with a couple of friends who’d never experienced Dragon Con (or any con, in Cleolinda’s case) before. Getting to experience the fun with them while they took it in for the first time, and then declared that they’d definitely like to come back next year, just made everything that much better for me. A new recurring character has been added to the roster for ABC's "666 Park Avenue" as Nick Chinlund joins the series set at the Drake, a spooky Manhattan apartment building.

Let’s start with the basics here. If you are going to read anything that I’m about to write about the recent SyFy release Jabberwock, you’re to want to understand the source material just a wee bit better. That is not to say that youwill in any way, shape or form need the poem that you are about to read tounderstand this offering from the giant monster, CGI specialists, but it will make me feel better knowing that you’ve at least read it once through. SyFy Channel should consider rebranding. They do a better job with the fantasy films they choose than the science fiction and terror products combined. Jabberwock is a simple tongue-in-cheek tale that plays with Lewis Carroll’s nonsense poem, but spells the monster’s name without the y.

Either there were copyright issues that the film's producers could not wrangle, or they were simply trying to be original. To loosely base the monster on the design by artist John Tenniel gives this film a continuity that is much appreciated. Not every detail, like the creature’s long antennae, canonical beard and broad buckteeth are recreated, but any avid arts aficionado will recognize the silhouette.

Disney fans who are used to seeing actress Christy Carlson Romano as the consummate Disney mean girl in such fare as Cadet Kelly, the Cutting Edge sequels, Even Stevens, and the voice of Kim Possible may be shocked at her performance in Suicide Dolls, showing at Sliff. The talented Romano gave hidden depth to many of the stereotyped Disney good/bad girl roles, but in Suicide Dolls, she does a complete 360 as the foul-mouthed, drug-addled high-schooler Amber who, with her best friend Jade (Laquita Cleare, also one of the film’s producers), is contemplating ending it all.

Giving themselves one day to record a video diary and do some things for the last time, the girls basically sit around talking, complaining, arguing, and generally baring their souls. Both have problems, both think they have nothing to live for, and both lean on each other for comfort and support.

But bear in mind that they didn’t make up that moniker; it seems the Mongolian Death Worm is a cryptozoological species that has been reported and investigated for decades now, which makes it a surprise that Syfy didn’t catch up with it sooner.

The incredibly lovely The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Tinsel Korey (who portrays Emily Young in the films) will be performing a benefit concert this Sunday for the children of the Quileute Tribal School at the Vera Project in Seattle, Washington this Sunday, September 13th. According to a recent press release, September 13, coincidentally happens to also be Bella’s Birthday in the books. Tinsel has worked on numerous films and television shows, from Steven Spielberg's mini-series "Into the West”, Scott Frank's feature thriller "The Lookout", starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and acting opposite Adam Beach in the CTV Mow "Luna: The Way Home". Ending off 2008 with a lead role on an Insight Film entitled “Wyvern”, playing a neo-fem action character name Vinyl Hampton. She began 2009 landing the role of Emily Young in the “Twilight Saga”; and is very excited to be working with such a talented cast and brilliant directors.

The Sci Fi Channel has slated Toby Wilkins’ Splinter (pictured) for a broadcast premiere on Saturday, February 14 at 9 p.m. There will be a repeat showing the following night at 7 p.m.

The superior indie monster flick (see our review here) was briefly released theatrically last fall under the Magnet banner by Magnolia Pictures, which initially announced a DVDebut for this month; it’ll now hit disc later this spring. Splinter is just one of several creature features hitting Sci Fi in the next couple of months; also on tap is Anaconda 4: Trail Of Blood, showing on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. The fourth in the killer-snake franchise was shot back to back with last year’s Anacondas III, with director Don E.
