I got a chance to see this amazing film at The Newport Film Festival and have not been able to stop thinking about and can't wait to see it again. This guy is a triple threat directing, writing & producing this film, Isaac Hirot Woofter, his amazing storytelling & direction brings these compelling characters to life. I saw this movie way before I saw the Academy Award winning "Anora" directed by Sean Baker (just learning his style) and now I think back about "Bound" and I am like wow what a incredible talent Isaac Hirot Woofter is and looking foward to his future projects. I can't for everyone to see this film!!
Just watched Bound and I was so in love with it! It's one of those beautiful, intimate movies that are kinetic, but also quiet. Got to meet Director Isaac Hirotsu Woofter on the festival circuit and was so glad I finally got to see his film! I felt like I really got to know Bella through her silence. When she eventually finds her voice later in the film, it's a testament to Alexandra Faye Sadeghian's performance and Isaac that I felt like I already knew her, because you ARE her when you watch. Really beautiful subjective storytelling! The film also does a great job of letting the intimate moments breathe, but then also propelling the plot forward at the perfect points. Love, LOVE the characters, and performances all around!
This was a very ambitions film with a lot going on. Most of it is very good. The acting, the locations, the tension, the score, the surprises. I like surprises, this one had a lot of them and some very unique complex characters. There was a lot of really cool locations that made me feel in the dirtiness with the too.
One surprise for me I'm still deciding whether I liked or not was the change in genre at the halfway point. Instead of sticking to what was a very nice coming of age underdog story, it flips a bit to a revenge thriller. I applaud the writer for the bold move, but I wonder what the story would have been if it didn't switch. I guess it worked since I didn't shut with the film off and I did enjoy it.

I haven't seen a film that took me on an emotional journey like this in a long time. I was terrified, I was laughing, I was crying, and then I did it all over and over again.
It was super suspenseful. I found myself holding my breath for long moments and gripping the edge of my seat.
Some serious incredible acting by the leads and entire ensemble. Really believable relatable characters and I found myself rooting for all of them.
Cinematography, lighting, wardrobe, editing, music, sound, really all the departments crushed it. And who doesn't love a flying squirrel? I want one now!
I'll be looking out for what this director and team do next.

If you want to watch a fluffy Hollywood movie with a super happy ending...stay away. This film will make you hurt. It falls into the Requiem for Dream world. Well, maybe not that dark. Lol
The actors show a great range of emotion in this slice of life indie suspense drama. Kudos to the lead and supporting cast. They are all spot on.
The handheld camera makes it feel like we are in the action. It also gave me a bit of anxiety, since the main character suffers so much.
I did find myself laughing out loud quite a bit with some of the zingers by the character Standrick. The actor stands out as the "comic relief" amongst the more "serious" roles.
