Xam'd: Lost Memories

One of the anime which will remain in my heart. I am glad to see that it has good reviews, deserves it. The action and story is great. Keeps you lock to it. The feelings are transmitted very well, friendship, respect, love, self sacrifice. Is the kind of anime that leaves you with a nod in your troth and tears in your eye. I hope that at some point it will have another season.

The ending was good, kinda sad but good. How someone said, it has an ending good for some continuation.

If they will not make another season, at least it will be in our hears and i can imagine another season made by my imagination.

I highly recommend every one to watch it. I love it.

Why are there so few ratings for this great anime? I'm literally shocked by how few ratings there are for this title on this site - 477 ratings after 13 years??? Bizarre. Anyways...

...going by the number of ratings here, it must just be that me and a small group of people know what most simply don't - that Xam'd: Lost Memories is a great anime that is worth the watch!

Take a look at the production values... just watch a trailer for this series! This anime is from the renowned Studio Bones (and you can see in the credits that various other studios pitch in as well including one of my personal favorites - Gainax)!

This anime is great! The action sequences, the intro music, the animation, are all EXCELLENT! That said, where I feel this anime shines the brightest are in its character design, its story, and the world building.

However, this anime is far from perfect... and I must say with how the characters and story are developed in the first 13 episodes they really could have had something incredibly special here. However, unfortunately, the general quality of the anime takes a dip in its back half. The story becomes less compelling and messy, characters behave uncharacteristically, the the pacing and writing gets worse. There are just a lot of issues with the say, last 10 or so episodes of this series. That said, I still REALLY enjoy it because just how great the first 13 episodes are.

I recommend that you check this anime out!

I am surprised with this anime which I have not a idea about it is much good as my favorite. And better then many anime that is mainstream kind of. I can say that have very good soundtracks and very good story and very engaging characters with mysterious of xam.

Concept is fresh you can't compare it to any other the relationship with friendship and hunger of war and bad vs good but bad can be fill with good like that kind of over the top concept is interesting.

The story is engaging and you don't bore about it and the conflict is another level. This is like a war so expect some harsh concept with with the dip of protagonist which just like a normal person and try to do thing right.

I just see ending not satisfied. I like to say lot about it but then it spoil it. So just figure yourself.

This is, no doubt, the best anime series of 2008.

Contrary to what one may think from the images promoting this series; Xam'd is NOT a story about fighting robots, it is not a story about mystical monsters, it is not an adolescence becoming a man story, and it is not a romance story. Xam'd is a WAR EPIC with all those as the icing on top.

Xam'd also is NOT an action series. Being about war, there are battles and fights. However, there are maybe around ten in the whole series (all of which are animated beautifully).

Xam'd does the soul good showing the multiple perspectives of a war. The religious fanatics fighting for what they believe in, the opposing government state fighting to protect their nation against religious terrorism, and the town-states in between. Segregation and discrimination, rejection, trauma, sorrow, confusion, misunderstandings, religious and mystical mystery and the unknown are all themes explored in Xam'd. Throughout the experience, mystical events toss the viewer around to question which party to root for.

The series focuses on many different characters with different views, but all of whom believe what they are doing is right. Very rarely does a movie or series do this successfully. Xam'd does, and that's commendable.

Moving on to the animation, there is nothing left to be desired in this department. A good way to describe the whole series is CONSISTENTLY GOOD. Unlike other modern shows where there are bouts of poor animation sprinkled with good animation, Xam'd never falters.

Why is this series so underrated and unheard of? Poor choice on distribution. The series was released internationally, but only on the PSN(Playstation3Network)! Not even in Japan was this series shown on TV! The show must be bought a few bucks an episode, and is automatically deleted after 24 hours of download. An unfortunate fate for such an amazing series. There is no doubt, a cult following... yet it is sad to think such an amazing series will be under looked simply because of poor distribution choices. If you get a chance to pick this series up, do so.

It is great. Amazing animation, amazing characters and has many themes, morals and perspectives to look at. Keep in mind though I only saw the dubbed English version I have no idea about the other version. Great plot with good action, but lots of story and characterization in the series as well. Honestly the ending was great and I think the makers should bring everyone back together for another season or a movie, because it can easily be continued and bring back characters as well as add others. It's a great show to watch and talk about. Expect cool monsters, robots, explosions, flying ships, interesting cultures interacting with each other and showing war and adventure. Not to mention a great romance that doesn't get boring or really mushy. See people fight for their lives, friendship and love. Also remember there are a bunch of different views on life shown from different characters. I hope you enjoy it! You should buy the show or rent it. If you're really interested the show is on Netflix right now as of 5/5/13.
