Crunchyroll has great news for fans of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. The upcoming home media release for Season 1, Part 2, will include a special collector's edition worthy of the award-winning anime drama.

Via a press release, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1, Part 2 will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 21, 2025. In addition to the standard release, a limited-edition Frieren release will also be available. The specialized collection, shaped like Frieren’s iconic suitcase, features a wide range of collectibles that will appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers alike. Both releases will collect the final batch of episodes from Season 1 (Episodes 17-28).

Isekai is rapidly becoming a go-to anime genre for streaming services. Next month, Disney's Hulu platform is fleshing out its ever-growing anime library by adding My Next Life As a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! and I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss -- two highly popular isekai series (and both the biggest "villainess" anime series listed on MyAnimeList by number of members).

As detailed on What's on Disney Plus, both of the aforementioned titles will become available on Hulu starting May 12. All 12 episodes of I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss will be streaming in both the original Japanese and English-dubbed versions. After numerous death and arson threats, a debut anime music event in Shiga, Japan has been abruptly canceled.

Ani x Loca (or AniLoka) Fes in Shiga, a music event designed to "invigorate Japan from the countryside with anime songs," was suddenly called off to ensure the safety of both performers and attendees. Takahiro Yamada, Ani x Loca's composer and organizer, issued a detailed apology statement explaining why the event will no longer be held on Dec 22. In one section, he briefly summarizes one of the threatening messages received by an organization partnered with Ani x Roca. "It was early December. He stabs a student to death at a nearby station. Sprinkles gasoline inside the venue and sets it on fire. Kills all the visitors within the facility..." The message also described a shooting attempt against a specific staff member.

The anime adaptation of Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady With the Lamp was already on every manhwa fan’s radar, but a recent announcement has made it one of 2024’s most anticipated releases.

The series has just released key visuals of its central characters, as well as announcing the voice actors who’ll be playing them. The assembled talent is impressive to say the least, headlined by Yui Ishikawa, best known for voicing Mikasa in Attack on Titan, who will be playing the titular role of Elise. The role of Linden has gone to Yōhei Azakami, known for his work on Bungo Stray Dogs and the recent Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. These two are joined by a familiar face in Yoshimasa Hosoya, who will take on the role of Graham, and who has worked with both of his costars as Reiner in Attack on Titan and Doppo Kunikida in Bungo Stray Dogs.
