This is an honest film without unnecessary dialogues, good shots, excellent performance by Katsaris. This is by far the director s best film.

I saw several interesting movies during the 2021 Veracruz World Film Festival, including this Cypriot film directed by Marinos Kartikkis, with a widower as its central character, who reminded me a lot of my late father, who did not go to sleep in hospitals, but was as stubborn as the protagonist (Antonis Katsaris is great) and also concealed under a certain air of pride his lack of information on how to handle the pain of loss. Which is not an easy thing to do... The film, however, does not incur easy whining or profiles of the typical funny or grumpy old men from the "planet Walt Disney ", but tells us how a bond of friendship is established with a nurse, a pragmatic single mother (wonderful Marina Argyridou) who discover how, night after night, this man who owns a home and has his basic expenses resolved, with time and money to even take a few escapes to bingo, prefers to sleep on a hospital bench (in the area with less movement, of course, so that he does not run) instead of in the comfortable and wide bed at home. It is a very simple film, with few characters and few elements, but it lacks nothing: it has everything in the right measure, in the right place. I'm really not coming up with a rare movie: it has been around since 2020 and has won awards in Stockholm, Cannes, Paris, Bogotá, Nicosia, Rome , Bangkok, Veracruz, and in the BannabáFest Human Rights Film Festival in Panamá. Highly recommended.

A movie that shows the reality of the loneliness of those heroes who try to live on their own when they become elders without wanting to become a burden to their children. The movie is a slap on our faces of what are the results of "forgetting" those who grew us and loved us more than anything else in the world. Dont forget those who raised you. Even when they say "I am ok" it doesnt mean they are. Be next to them even if they show you that they dont "need" you. The truth is that they will give anything to be next to you. Show them how much you love them EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!

There are many elements that set this movie apart from similar themed films. The sincerity of the characters being one. They act their parts with so much restraint that we easily forget that they are actors doing their job. Thus the overall experience becomes immersive and real.

We are essentially watching every day life unfolding and very often we think "what if this happened to my family?" The protagonist (Katsaris) is not particularly appealing, due to his stubbornness, but we do sympathize with him and his predicament. He is not a modern day hero, he is a modern day victim.

The director/writer paid meticulous attention to detail and left nothing to chance. Every shot and every scene he created were seamless. He never allowed the movie to become a tearjerker...he avoided that trap masterfully. Storytelling at it's best.

It was sad but a movie that reflects the reality of life and what lots of our senior citizens are facing every day. Movie was emotional and presented very well. The message was clear that we need to support all our senior citizens family and friends BUT also our neighbors and even strangers that need help. We need to show our senior citizens compassion and love.
