Paramount+ recently removed 10 Nickelodeon original series, including Blue’s Clues & You, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, It’s Pony, Middlemost Post, Ollie’s Pack, Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, Santiago of the Seas, That Girl Lay Lay, Big Nate, and the 2021 Rugrats reboot.

Paramount+ has gotten rid of several Nickelodeon shows from its streaming platform.

Per Deadline, it's been reported that Paramount+ has completely scrubbed a variety of Nickelodeon shows. Ten shows in total were removed from streaming, and among them is the animated reboot of Rugrats, which premiered in 2021 on the platform. The Blue's Clues revival series, Blue's Clues & You!, was also taken off of Paramount+. Other pulled titles include the Are You Afraid of the Dark? reboot series, It's Pony, Middlemost Post, Ollie's Pack, Ryan's Mystery Playdate, Santiago of the Seas, That Girl Lay Lay, and the Paramount+ original series Big Nate.

The latest content cuts at Paramount’s streamer could be a sign that a deal to acquire its parent company may be drawing close.

It’s been a rough year for Paramount’s reputation as a provider of kids content. In February it was announced that the company was laying off the entire staff of its kids streaming service Noggin ahead of that streamer’s eventual shutdown, and now reports are circulating that Paramount+ has removed 10 Nickelodeon original series as part of its ongoing attempts to rationalize the content on the streaming platform.

Shows removed include 2021’s “Rugrats,” 2019’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and others. In its fourth quarter 2023 10-k filing, Paramount indicated such content cuts were coming. The great streaming purge has come for children’s TV.

Paramount+ has removed 10 kid-friendly series from its library, including a pair of streaming originals: The CG-animated Rugrats reboot and Big Nate — neither of which has been formally cancelled as of press time.

Paramount+ has purged 10 Nickelodeon original series, following the removal of other Nick titles from the platform over the past several months.

The list includes the Blue’s Clues revival Blue’s Clues & You! (2019), Are You Afraid of the Dark? (2019-2022), It’s Pony (2020-2022), Middlemost Post (2021-2022), Ollie’s Pack (2020), Ryan’s Mystery Playdate (2019-2023), Santiago of the Seas (2020), That Girl Lay Lay (2021-2024) as well as the made-for-Paramount+ Big Nate (2022) and Rugrats (2021), a reboot of the popular original series, which ran from 1991 to 2004..

This is said to be part of content removal addressed in the most recent Q4 earnings call on February 28. Targeting Nick titles is a little surprising as, according to parent Paramount Global, the network’s Kids & Family content consistently ranks among the most watched and re-watched programming on Paramount+.
