Have no idea what the other reviewer is talking about. There's a clear difference between watching a movie hoping to find yourself in it and accepting the reality that is presented and allowing to carry your experience through it. Foundational in the code of storytelling and structure are the spaces and silences between the things we don't need to tell, that rest we let the audience understand on their own. This isn't a puzzle either, is common knowledge and communication but I guess is not for everybody. If you can't understand that between these moments, the before and the after is everything, in the final moment where there was no point trying to make it alive both oppositions came to conciliation. No matter the distance they came together at the hand of their circumstances. In the end wasn't enough resentment to push them apart. In the end was an emotional opportunity to connect. Who can't identify with that? Parallel storytelling between the clueless receptionists and the mother and daughter trapped in the sauna was the perfect choice. I was engaged, inspired, moved.
Other reviewer had a different opinion regarding directing and storytelling. Which I found interesting and subtle. Perfect example of a great simple story told in a simple way that at first sight has a meaning but if you keep watching a bit deeper have another layer, and then another, an another.
Like I said before this is great cinema. I seen several thousands of flick in my life, amd read my fair share of books. That doesn't make me wiser or better at choosing but what it does is to make me to pay closer attention to little things, perhaps some lights, composition, direction changes, tones, narratives, cinematography, colours, acting, editing, scenarios, the writing, the choices everyone makes. This ain't the typical looking great hollow story for a streaming platform. This is a well crafted, originally created, deliberately designed, delightful to have had the cinematic experience.
