This DVD release was far better than I've waited, has some funny twists, and some good scenery points, looks better than average DVD releases, this film does not wants to be more like a good eighteen's nostalgia slasher, the first part was not too good in my opinion. This is rather a new version,is not really a after feeling of the original,it was my personal opinion, but all the way good fun,and I don't think it's radically only for slasher fans.
This is also a comedy,a parody of slasher films like Vacancy 2,and American Psycho 2.And some other films.
Maybe this film will be a better joy,if you sit down like now this will be a "for fun" teenager film.
6/10-If you know what you want to see.

It wasn't really all that bad. I have watched much worse horror movies than this one. Some bad things about this movie:
1. Very predictable storyline. 2. Not scary at all, but kind of funny like "The Hatchet". 3. Acting is okay.
But overall its still okay, not as bad as what the other reviewers say. Just a timepass movie. It depends on what you really enjoy watching. If you like to have a laugh while watching a horror movie then I'd suggest you watch these type of films. I usually don't like to scare myself to death while watching a horror flick.
Hope this helps!

While driving to Las Vegas for the bachelor party of her sister Melissa (Nicki Aycox) and her fiancé Bobby (Nick Zano), Kayla (Laura Jordan) stops the car in the gas station to meet her date Nik (Kyle Schmid) that she met in Internet. Nik convinces her to take a secondary road under the protest of Bobby and the car stops with melted engine. They find a house in the middle of nowhere and decide to take the car parked in the garage to the next city, and return with a rented car to pay for the damages provoked by Nik; Melissa leaves her cell number. However, they discover that the owner of the place is the sadistic truck driver Rusty Nail (Mark Gibbon) and they have to pay a high price for what they did.
"Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead" has a stupid story using with elements of "The Hitcher" and "Duel" with the pretext of sadism. Unfortunately the argument is too silly and never works. When Bobby is abducted, for example, the attitude of Melissa is ridiculous since they knew where the deranged driver lived. Rusty Nail is unreasonably omnipresent and indestructible and the conclusion with the intention of a sequel is also awful. My vote is four.

I felt tormented watching this film. Not that it was a bad film, but it was really hard to rate. For example the opening scene was soo awesome! Then I got to meet a few of the main (somewhat cheesy characters). Then I liked the acting of a few from their group. I mean they were a group of quirky people. There was pretty good dialog in this movie, which almost shocked me at first. This movie also had some cool twists. Not in a twisted ending type way, but more like "wow that was pretty messed up" kind of way. There also wasn't a huge build up. Nothing really jumped out at you. There wasn't anything terribly original or cliché about this film. If you want to see a decent movie you can watch it. I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but if you cant think of anything else go ahead. I say if you want to watch a movie similar and yet better than this, watch Duel! Now thats a suspenseful movie.
I do enjoy a good horror movie, and the psychological horror movies especially so, and "Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead" did indeed have the potential to be a great movie. And given my interest in the horror genre, of course I sat down to watch it.
The story, however, turned out to be just another generic run-of-the-mill psychological chase and terrorizing horror movie. It is about a group of people whose car breaks down and they find an old, rundown house in the middle of nowhere. They find a car in the garage and decide to take it, as no one is at home, with the intent to return later on with the car and pay for damages to the property. It turns out that the owner of the house and car is a cruel truck driver and he takes up the chase of the young people, hellbent on causing them harm and terrorizing them.
Sure, the storyline was not something new or innovative, and it was in fact something that had been seen in other movies. But still, it did have potential. However, director Louis Morneau just didn't manage to make "Joyride 2: Dead Ahead" stand out in the genre. The movie certainly was entertaining enough, but it just didn't have that special touch to it.
The acting in the movie was adequate, and people did actually perform well enough with their given roles and characters. However, the sadistic truck driver character was just a bit too generic and over-used in other movies similar to this.
There weren't anything particular scary about the movie or the things that happened throughout the course of the movie. But still, I will say, that many of the scenes were nicely set up and executed, they just weren't particularly frightening.
All in all, "Joyride 2: Dead Ahead" is an entertaining enough horror for what it turned out to be. You just shouldn't expect anything extraordinary here, and it is essentially something that has been seen in other similar movies.
