A movie which shows real ground level political games. Very good acting done by everyone. Little bit upset of thr ending, could have managed to be more good.

Dhurala (Marathi film) review :

All izz not well in the Ubhe family!!

Their patriarch and village sarpach Nivritti Ubhe has just passed away and the big question is who will replace his position. Will it be Dada (Ankush Chaudhari), Nivritti's eldest son or his step mom Akka (Alka Kubal) who is a reluctant candidate egged on by the local MLA for his personal agenda. Then, there is also an ambitious sister in law Monica (Sonalee Kulkarni) who has politics on her mind!!

Director Sameer Vidwans' Dhurala is a well presented and cleverly packaged drama which exposes the political rot existing even at basic sarpanch level as well as greed and lust for power which can break the strongest of family bonds.

With a stellar cast comprising of half the Marathi industry, the performances from everyone is assuredly top class. Every character is finely developed and highly relatable. Writer Kshitij Patwardhan, take a bow!

Technically too, Dhurala is quite impressive and the crowd scenes during the election rallies are effectively handled. Thankfully, no item number pops up to slow down the narrative.

Though the ending may or may not satisfy all, Dhurala is one of the better political dramas coming from Marathi cinema. Not in league of Sinhasan (1979) or Vazir (1994), the film still deserves a theatrical visit. In one word, RECOMMENDED!!

Political dramas are a rare thing in Indian Cinemas.In recent times, except for Rajneeti i cannot think of any political drama that made viewers sit in there seats till the very end . Malayalam films produced great political thrillers way back in 1990s, unfortunately the ones which were made in the following decades were a clear rip off of the classic's made in 90s. Dhurala takes a dig at the dynastic politics showcasing each family member's ulterior motives. The extent to which how the family members try to bring down each other for their personal gain and their hunger for power was showcased effectively. The flow and direction of the film was crisp with the only flaw being its dramatic ending. All the cast members including its supporting cast was well written and etched with Prasad Oak standing tall among the cast as a scheming and cunning politician. Normally, i am not fond of Marathi movies as most of them, which i have seen, are exaggeration of Bollywood romcom's or Remake of South Indian films (like Classmate or Bus Stop). But such films will make my interest in Marathi films grow. Films like Dhurala, Masala, Court are the films which will make global audience take Marathi movies more seriously.

(For me Dhurala happens to be the first Marathi film that i have seen in the theater's of United Arab Emirates unfortunately i was the only viewer in the cinema to see a gem like this...)

One of the most eye-catching movie i have ever seen. The concept was very clear and the script was well written. Execution by the director was to the point and of course most of the top rated actors of marathi industry made this movie more interesting by their superb Acting skills

This film is mindblowing A perfect political as well as family drama After mourning their is battle of election but about conflict that is real spice who will be candidate this brings a real and very interesting fun everyone has power of their field everyone has power to win and has strong reason to win but before climax all game twisted and turned up in family values and emotion and further audience have to decide This is must watchable movie. Overall Dhurala Conflicting movie Dhurala ( Battlefield) of politics for being sarpanch Ubhe family members forgots values and emotion among them a sensitive but strong character cement sheth (Hanumant) wins your mind and heart ,he is so powerful and he knows the value of family Movie has it's high potential, This brings fully enjoyable in theatres.

Good days are back marathi film industry , good story , good direction , fabulous movie , must watch.

After watching this movie..you will see how ground level politics works. Superb acting, awesome script...all the actors did their part in the best way they could. One of the top movie of this new year 2020

As expected high class acting from the superloaded starcast DHURALA also satisfies to give 10/10 ratings for story, screenplay, background music.

This is a one time watch. While all actors make justice to their characters, but film doesn't make that impact.Director lost the plot after interval. It's just a daily soap episodes put together to create a film. It's like Sameer Vidwans woke and decided to create a political big boss. Some characters are overtly written dragged. Some scenes could have been deleted. Editor should have been better. This film could have been better with all those characters and actors

Great direction! Top notch dialogues & acting by all characters. Ending is too good..Full paisa vasool movie!

An average movie with no plot that keeps you engaged.

Watched late with so much expectations but disappointed to see an average one!

Overall a gripping script and fascinating acting. As usual Sonalee is best . The election result is good as one party wins rather than a tie but the ending could have been better
