Although filming was completed in 2019, the movie is still being edited by director Terrence Malick as of 2023. Update: As of January 2025, Malick has still not finished the editing of The Way Of The Wind, though there are reports it might premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, 2025.
The working-title "The Way of the Wind" is likely a reference to the Biblical passage Ecclesiastes 11:5: "As thou knowest not what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child; even so thou knowest not the work of God who doeth all."
Was described as featuring a "highly spiritual experience" that puts a "dark genre twist" on the biblical story.
According to one of the main actors Matthias Schoenaerts, Malick spent four months shooting the movie in six different countries, but has been working on it for the last thirty years. It is considered to be his Magnum Opus.
In an interview published by The Full Stage on 24 March 2024, Géza Röhrig, who plays Jesus in the film, stated that the film will be released in 2025, opening at the Cannes Film Festival.
