To fili tis... Zois

After having big expectations for this film,I'm extremely satisfied that,not only I wasn't disappointed,but it suceeded my expectations!!!This really is the best comedy I have seen in a long time,let alone a Greek comedy. While most Greek comedys(and comedys in general) are just about weird situations and how funny characters react to them,"To Fili tis...Zois" has also mystery,and satire concentrating on Greek prejudices. Nikos Zapatinas,the director,travels us to beautiful Greek landscapes and handles each scene with the appropriate care.He switches between comedy and mystery scenes with ease,while presenting the film as a solid piece of entertainment.This definitely is his best film to date. The two main stars of the film,Laertis Malkotsis as Pashalis,a soon-to-be-married everyday man who is under tremendous stress,and Katerina Papoutsaki as Zoi,a mysterious woman with a literally deadly secret,both deliver performances that,while fitting to the satirical style of the film,are also based on realistic approaches to insecurities and beliefs that we come across everyday in Greek society. Themos Anastasiadis,who guest stars in the film as Anestis,a successful but naive businessman,shows that he could easily continue as a comedian in movies.He really is hilarious,and brings his own magic touch that we have come to know from his TV show "Ola" to the story. Another great performance is delivered by Zeta Douka,who plays Sofia,Anesti's wife.In fact,along with Katerina Papoutsaki,these two beautiful ladys show us that,in contrast with most Greek films who cast beautiful but useless actresses to play major parts,the casting director of this film wanted more then looks,thankfully. And aucorse,I must mention the comedic duo of Sakis Boulas and Giannis Zouganelis,who each has a hilarious cameo in the film. Two thumbs up for the angelic music of Sumka as well,whom I think is the best composer we have here in Greece. "To Fili tis...Zois" is a satirical take on prejudices that can hold us from being free,along with a wonderful touch of mystery and intrigue.It's hilarious quotes will be repeatedly refrenced in every-day conversations(like with "Loufa kai Paralagi:Seirines sto Agaio" only that the quotes here are actually funnier),and in the end of the day,it's one of the few Greek films that takes a new giant leap for making the Greek film industry even better.

This movie is by far one of the worst movies I have watched this year... There are only 2-3 actors who play decently and some others who are really good but appear only shortly in the movie and this is not enough to "save the day"... There is obviously no inspiration regarding the music in this film.... The same song plays again and again getting on the nerves of the viewers.... The plot of the film is somewhat cheap...And when there is no plot, there are tits and asses! But I left my biggest disappointment for the end: Why is Themos Anastasiadis playing in this film??? He is not even an actor! He is the owner of a newspaper... Couldn't there be any real actors for his role??? Why Themos??? Just tell me WHY??? All in all a bad film...The only thing I enjoyed was the nice images of Sifnos island. It is a pity and a disgrace that some good Greek comedians appear in this film...

I had my reservations in watching the film due to its low IMDb ratings, despite the interesting trailer and the successful theme song. Thank got I finally rented it and I was not the very least disappointed.

The major asset of the film is it's cast, since the leading stars (both virtually unknown) deliver brilliant performances (the chemistry is there), the very known journalist Themos Anastasiades makes a surprise appearance, Zeta Douka is as always pleasant and two widely known Greek comedians make cameo appearances. The bartender of "Kokkino Domatio" (the best Greek comedy series of the last years) appears as a mystery character (you find out at the end who he is).

The second asset is the picturesque scenery: the breathtaking Sifnos landscapes. While not one of the most known Greek islands, the film exhibits that its at least comparable with Myconos.

The characters and dialogue are very fresh, even if the story may be considered as typical for a romantic comedy: opposite characters, series of mishabs and mystery subplots to keep the interest.

If you love romantic comedies, this is your film!

Very interesting story, it was not boring. Very nice pictures from greek islands. Perfect!

This was a big disappointment. After seeing the excellent Nisos, I was expecting something similarly funny and witty, but this is definitely not in the same category. It feels like an (overlong) advertisement for holidays on the Greek island of Sifnos.And the location is about the only thing they have in common.

The plot is very thin: A guy, living on one island is getting married soon, picks up something for the wedding on a ferry, is trapped in the toilet, the ferry leaves for another island, he risks missing the wedding. On this new island now, he tries to get back, with a woman, who was also on the boat, helping him. As I don't want to spoil anything, I will leave it here, but you can probably guess where this leads to.

With good actors or dialogues it could have been interesting. But rarely does anything here make sense, the romance part is ridiculous and I just couldn't care about any of the characters. It is a pity, because there were one or two people in there who I usually like. The most annoying thing however, is the soundtrack. You'll hear the same track over and over again, it sounds like the tracks that are pre-installed on a keyboard for kids.
