It is a terrible movie with lots of music that happens in the southern backwoods.
Or is it a really bad western located in the southern backwoods with lots of music?
Or it is a long music video with singing cowboys set in the southern backwoods.
Whatever it is, please skip it to save whatever few left brain cells. This film is all over the place, without any rhyme or reason. It has a cowboy vibe, but it is not set in the southern backwoods. It wants to be a comedy, but not funny....ever. Maybe it will be an action thriller? Nope. The action is three stooges, slapstick, and no tension. It is three guys hamming it up in front of a camera(not a movie camera, an iPhone 12, maybe) and singing. Yes...that is it.

I enjoyed The Devil and the Daylong Brothers quite a bit. It's strengths were it's sharp writing (reminiscent of a Coen brothers film), catchy songs, and how well it nails the Southern Gothic style. Unfortunately the director's vision exceeded his budget in some of the action scenes but having many of them be musical numbers helps with that. True to the genre, the film explores the darker side of human nature so it's not for everyone but if you can stomach the violence and general evil constantly on display there is a powerful portrayal of mercy in the climax. I would love to see more of the Daylong Brothers quest to get their souls back.
An epic and wild ride you won't regret. This movie is unlike one you've ever seen! Camp and vengeance underscored with the most powerful bluesy soundtrack. It was "Hadestown" meets "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" with all of Tarantino's guns... come for the fun and stay for the heartbreak and stunning cinematography in this surprisingly touching story about who and where we come from and who we are destined to be....
Brendan Bradley, Nican Robinson and Jordon Bolden played off one another so beautifully and their brotherly banter was one of the most riveting parts of this film, which says a lot since every moment is action packed. And the music!!! It will stay with me for a long time.

What a ride! The Devil and the Daylong Brothers is a must see! The brothers, Ish, Abraham, and Enoch are a force to be reckoned with. Their individual stories and shared brotherhood come together to create an action packed dynamic that is a joy to watch. This film is honestly one of the most unique and creative I've seen in years! Along with the action packed sequences, they throw in a musical element that takes the creativity to the next level. The music brings the film to life in a way that I haven't seen on screen in recent memory. I found myself singing the songs in my head long after the credits rolled. I went on to buy the soundtrack, the music alone is amazing! This is a must watch!

I wasn't sure what to make of this show at first. But I am so glad I watched it. To me, it was if you crossed Supernatural with a Broadway show. I think the songs were great! It presented a good story line and the acting was great. Though, to be honest, I felt Jordan's performance was way over the top. And I don't mean to knock him. I am sure he is very talented actor. I don't know if the actors actually did the singing in the movie, but if they did, kudos! To me this was actually scripted to be a Broadway show originally instead of a movie. But if it wasn't, they should consider making it one.
This film is so incredibly rich. The characters are deeply developed and riveting and the storyline is engaging and surprising. I've never scene any like this film.
It feels like Quentin Tarantino made "O' Brother Where Art Thou" but in a way that feels intimate and personal. It's the right combination of violence, beauty, folklore, and hope. The action scenes are real and gritty, while the songs compliment there scenes in a way I never saw coming.
The actors embodied their characters in such and powerful way. I felt connected to them.
The story, the songs, and the score are all outstanding. Truly a unique and powerful film.

The Devil and the Daylong Brothers is a wickedly entertaining, blood-soaked symphony of Southern Gothic revenge, supernatural intrigue, and foot-stomping blues. This genre-bending masterpiece follows three estranged brothers-Ishmael, Enoch, and Abraham-on a relentless, music-fueled quest to hunt down the father who doomed them before they were even born. Sold to the Devil for their father's personal gain, they now work as collectors of souls, chasing down those who made deals with the Devil just like their old man. Their ultimate goal? To settle the score with him once and for all.
With a richly woven mythology and an electrifying mix of action, horror, and dark humor, the film never lets up. The music is nothing short of spectacular-soulful, bluesy, and seamlessly intertwined with the narrative, heightening every moment without ever feeling intrusive. The lead actors deliver powerhouse performances, balancing grit, charm, and pitch-perfect timing, making these blood-stained antiheroes impossible not to root for.
Thrilling, stylish, and dripping with Southern-fried menace, The Devil and the Daylong Brothers is a wild, vengeful road trip you won't want to miss.

I had no idea what to expect, but this blew me away. The story is intense, the acting is insanely good, and the ending had me holding my breath. Looks amazing, sounds amazing, everything just WORKS. The pacing builds perfectly, with moments of quiet tension that explode into brutal action. Every scene feels meticulously crafted, and the performances are unforgettable. This is the kind of movie that stays in your head long after the credits roll. If you love gritty, character-driven stories with stunning visuals and emotional weight, this is a must-watch. One of the best films I've seen in years.

As someone with ADHD, I usually lose focus during movies-but The Devil and the Daylong Brothers kept me locked in from start to finish. This genre-blending ride moves fast, mixing supernatural horror, action, and musical theater in a way that just works.
Brendan Bradley is the standout, delivering a magnetic performance as Ishmael that's funny, intense, and impossible to look away from. The film's nonstop energy, eerie twists, and killer soundtrack make it perfect for anyone who loves unpredictable, fast-paced storytelling. If you struggle to sit still for slow movies, this one's for you. 10/10.

This movie was epic!!
From the story to the music you are hooked all the way through with some very nice plot twists.
I can only hope for a sequel!! Brendan Bradley kills it in the ties that bind song. Gave me goose bumps!!
If you like western style shoot em up, with just enough comedy to laugh and shout. You have found the right movie. Because not only does this movie know when to slow it down and focus on the small bits but it cna jump it right back up in a hurry as well. I would recommend to not only buy this movie but buy the sounds track as well. Because it will keep you toes tappin too.

The Daylong Brothers is the kind of movie that sticks with you-not just because of its story, but because of how intense and grounded it feels. It's a Western with a strong sense of atmosphere, a lot of tension, and some seriously good performances. While it doesn't totally nail everything, it's a gripping ride that's worth watching if you're into slower, character-driven stories with bursts of brutal action.
The Good
First off, the cinematography is incredible. Every shot looks like it was carefully planned, making the film feel more expensive than it probably was. The dusty, worn-down settings feel real, and the way the movie uses light and shadows really adds to the mood. It's not just about looking cool-it actually helps build tension in a way that keeps you on edge.
The action, when it happens, is brutal and feels earned. This isn't a non-stop shootout kind of Western-it's more about tension building up until violence has to happen. And when it does, it hits hard. The gunfights aren't flashy, they're messy, fast, and realistic. You feel every shot, and the stakes always feel high.
Another thing that works really well is the film's themes of redemption, violence, and faith. It's not preachy, but you can tell it has something to say about guilt and the cost of revenge. It gives the story more weight than just a simple "good guy vs. Bad guy" setup.
The Not-So-Good
As much as I liked the movie, it's definitely not for everyone. The pacing is slow, sometimes a little too slow. There are moments where it feels like the film is sitting in its own mood for too long, especially in the middle section. It builds tension well, but there are a few scenes that could have been tightened up without losing anything important.
Another small issue is that while the dialogue is good, sometimes it leans too hard into being poetic or overly serious.
And while the ending is strong, I can see it dividing people. Without giving anything away, it's not the kind of ending that wraps everything up in a neat little bow. It works, but if you're expecting a more traditional resolution, you might walk away feeling a little unsatisfied.
Final Thoughts
The Daylong Brothers is a really well-crafted film with great performances, beautiful cinematography, and intense action. It's not your typical Western-it's slower, heavier, and more focused on character than shootouts. If you're into that kind of thing, you're gonna love it. If you prefer faster-paced Westerns with more action, this might not fully hit for you.
Overall, it's a strong, well-made movie that's just a little too slow at times. But when it works, it really works.

It's almost impossible to watch The Devil and The Daylong Brothers just once. Aside from the incredible chemistry you see between the wildly talented actors, a gritty script with just enough humor and audacity to keep you on the edge of your seat, and an unapologetically powerful soundtrack, this movie will keep you coming back for more. Movie aficionados will pick up on the subtle nuances, the clever twists, and the incredible attention to details, while music lovers will be drawn into the beautiful lyrics and haunting melodies sung with raw passion and stunning talent. But beyond that... it's just a FUN movie. It's weird, and new, and something you haven't seen before. Give it a try, it's worth every second of screen time.

There really isn't anything out there like it. Funny, violent, dreadful, and heartfelt. This is a really fun ride with some wild musical numbers. Hey Hollywood, more of this please! The cast is ridiculous. Not only are their performances killer, they even sang the tunes.
Movies like this aren't for everyone. You'll either love every minute or decide in the first scene that it isn't for you. I find that to be refreshing. Having such a niche genre and style allows us to either be fans for life or not at all. There's no need to placate to everyone. I get Hollywood wants to cast a big net, but when artists have full control from the ideation, script, music, editing and more...this type of movie is the outcome...and I'm here for it. Keep em coming!

This movie has a killer soundtrack and some really beautiful scenes. The direction is really effective and it added a lot to the story. It was funny and touching, and had characters that were interesting. It was entertaining to see the men live through rules they just hope will guide them on the right path with little evidence that they're right, and do so with such conviction - it really shows the desperation of people to believe in something, that they can somehow be redeemed I guess. A nice look into the folly of man. I really didn't want it to end and I want to see these characters again and spend more time with them.
