Interesting - slow at the beginning - favourite character is Lina.followed by Sloane - Gia is just all over the place , Maggie is young and foolish and trying to regain her self respect. The male characters in this seem very much secondary at least it would seem so at the beginning , but okay a very real role moving forward. If you can get over the first few or so episodes you will invest in the rest of the show.. this is. It something I would usually watch, but it intrigued me from what others were saying and talking about. In parts it's quite raw, emotional, sexual, bouncing from hot to cold.
Three Women attempts to tackle feminist themes, but often falls into the trap of caricatured characters and exaggerated storytelling. The portrayal of both female and male characters feels fake and one-dimensional, detracting from the potential depth of the narrative.
The show seems to rely heavily on stereotypes rather than exploring the complexities of its characters' lives. For instance, the women are often portrayed as either hyper-emotional or overly empowered, lacking the nuanced development that would make their journeys relatable. This reductionist approach not only undermines the feminist message but also risks alienating viewers who seek authenticity in character arcs.
Moreover, the dialogue often feels forced, as if the writers are trying too hard to deliver 'witty' or 'provocative' lines that ultimately fall flat. Instead of sparking meaningful conversations, it often leads to eye-rolls and groans.
The pacing also suffers; moments that could have been poignant are rushed, while others drag on unnecessarily. This inconsistency disrupts the flow of the story and makes it difficult to invest in the characters' struggles.
Overall, while "Three Women" aims to be a bold exploration of contemporary femininity, it can come off as cringeworthy rather than thought-provoking. The show misses an opportunity to engage in a deeper dialogue about women's experiences, leaving viewers with a sense of disappointment rather than empowerment.

A series about women, for women, and which I understand is supposed to have some kind of feminist perspective. How could they have missed something as basic as the fact that none of the many long sex scenes contain anything other than penetration? The men in the series act like teenagers in the bed.
Complete absence of caresses, hands and tongue. Are the creators familiar with something called the clitoris?
Otherwise, its an ok show but nothing rememberable. It feels slow and i find the storyline about the writer booring. Linas character and storyline is the only one which feels more interesting.

Lisa Taddeo actually went and met these women and wrote about their lives - these negative reviews are so harsh and criticizing the storylines - that's how they actually happened - this show is based on true stories that Lisa wrote about in a book and now it's been made into a show - I really don't understand the harsh criticism I've read. I am loving the show so far but that might also be because I read the book. I am not a big reader (I'd like to be) but I really enjoyed her book so to see these characters brought to life - I am really appreciating reimagining this story with these actors and getting to watch these stories about real women, played out by women, directed and written by women - so any criticism of how "anti-feminist" it is is just weird. I like the show.
After 3 episodes we unfortunately fell off this show. We liked the first episode and the show is filled with a lot of talented actresses, the second episode was brilliantly acted but not that convincing in regards of pacing and script and already boringly sex focussed. With the third episode it really delves into mommy porn territory and we really failed to see the depth and were really bored.
I am sure there will be some great parts in the rest of the episodes but we are too old and ununterested in drawn out and rather explicit sex scenes.
It is great to see Gilpin being given material to really work with but i guess a show about the sexual lifestyle of 3 US women is just not our cup of tea.

- ट्रिवियाIt is speculated that the reason behind Showtime's decision to drop airing the series was concerns regarding its graphic sexual content, as the network was going through a content re-evaluation by its parent company Paramount at the time. In February 2023, Starz bought the rights to the series from Showtime and ended up airing the show on September 2024.
