Howaito rûmu

A really confusingly titled and rare series and although my Hong Kong release DVD is titled, Diary of a Beloved Wife: White Room, I believe it is the Hisashi Saito's White Room listed here on IMDb, although I understand the Japanese title is translated as: White Room: Evening Classroom Inspection! My feeling is that this film has nothing to do with the Devoted Wife series but has been tacked on to increase interest. Anyway, this one is rather difficult to watch as it is basically a guy trying to coax his very thin wife into oral sex and the discomfort, tears and distress do not make for happy viewing. Interesting as ever as such films from Japan are this one is harder than some. The guy discovers that a porno has been made in his apartment before he took occupation and there is some horror and resonance from this but more importantly the main theme of the amateur porn documentary revolves around a girl fighting against the repression of her mother. This it's reckoned will be achieved by making a porn video with mother watching, well a photo of her anyway! So our bold hero eventually using the same pop psychology to get himself some oral action. The very weirdest thing of all is the ending, the morning after, when they sit variously on the stairs drinking tea. It must make sense but not to me.
