Siccin 6

"Siccin 6" continues its eerie exploration of the supernatural with a 6/10 rating from me, and I must say, I found it strangely captivating. The acting, though not consistently polished, lends authenticity to the unsettling narrative. The film editing, while occasionally uneven, manages to maintain a sense of suspense. The film's strength lies in its commitment to Turkish supernatural folklore, offering a relentless sense of foreboding. The music heightens the film's overall eerie ambiance, while the cinematography captures the lurking darkness within everyday scenes. "Siccin 6" builds upon the established themes of the series, underscoring the idea that meddling with the paranormal carries a heavy price. While it may have its flaws, it remains an intriguing addition to the "Siccin" series, ideal for those who relish a dose of supernatural chills.

Same style, same characters, same story ... the beginning of the series is much better

This movie was introduced as the last installment of the Siccin series. What caught my attention was the trailer claiming there were 36 horror scenes. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations when I started watching. But once again, my prejudices fooled me.

Let me first say that this movie is directly connected to the third movie of the series, Siccin 3: Curmu Ask. Watching this without seeing that one would be a mistake-you might miss some parts of the story.

Now, about the movie... I actually liked the plot. There were a couple of scenes that really surprised me. Some unexpected events unfold, and the movie keeps its pace from start to finish. You constantly find yourself caught in the middle of something. That's where the strength of this movie lies. It's one of those films where Alper Mestci really shows his talent in jumpscares. The scenes were absolutely thrilling, and the visual effects were on point. I found myself thinking, "This guy really knows what he's doing." Perfectly timed jumpscares always boost the energy of a horror movie, and that's exactly what we got here. Compared to the other films, it's easy to see the improvement.

Overall, I enjoyed it. The connection to Curmu Ask added a whole new flavor. That clever link helped this movie a lot. I believe that creating such connections between movies makes them more engaging.

The soundtrack was once again brilliant. They made sure we felt the atmosphere and the mood from beginning to end. Resit Gozdamla worked his magic once again. These soundtracks have become a signature for the series. The final scene was also impressive-camera angles, makeup, and atmosphere combined into a true horror feast.

It would be better without too many jump scare scenes

I've seen "Siccin 2" and "Siccin 4" the other day, and thus opted to watch the 2019 movie "Siccin 6", as I had the opportunity to do so. As I understand, each movie is a self-contained story, so you don't need to watch the movie chronologically in order to understand them or enjoy them.

It was nice to have Alper Mestçi writing and directing the movie, as he was also the writer and director for parts 2 and 4. Tough I have to say that the storyline wasn't the most coherent of storylines. I struggled to understand fully what was going on, as it was essentially just one random scene that made little sense, followed by a jump scare or three, then moving on to the next scene without any transition from the first, and continue the formula of random scene and jump scares.

With my very limited exposure to the Turkish cinema, then of course I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. Now, that is actually something that worked in favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances in "Siccin 6" were fair.

There is a lot, and I do mean a lot, of cheap jump scares throughout the course of the movie. It grows very tiring, very quickly, and it doesn't really do much of anything for the narrative, expect for making the audience jump in their seats. Not that I mind jump scares, when done in moderation and adequately, but "Siccin 6" had way too many and too frequent jump scares, and it sort of dragged the movie down a notch.

Visually then "Siccin 6" was good, just as parts 2 and 4 had been. So I am rather impressed with the level of special effects that they managed to pull off in these movies.

My rating of writer and director Alper Mestçi's 2019 movie "Siccin 6" lands on a four out of ten stars.
