The film comes from executive producers Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss, Harvard alums who rowed for the school and later competed in the Olympics. They are better known as the twins who sued Mark Zuckerberg.
Filming has been taking place on False River in New Roads, Louisiana.
The photo used of the "coaches" 8+ was actually a Photoshopped image of the New Zealand Mens 8+ which won Gold at the 1972 Olympics.
There is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Mountie statuette on the desk in a scene with Alexander Ludwig's character and his onscreen father before the graduation ball. This is obviously a nod to Alexander Ludwig's Canadian heritage.
The film inaccurately portrays Ivy League schools offering athletic scholarships, which is not allowed under Ivy League rules.
