I would have liked to see less environmental protest and more time between the leads. Still, they managed to spend some quality time dancing away from one another and then closer again.
I didn't care for so many reviews rudely criticizing Leah Renee especially for her voice. It is unfortunate that Renee would be perfectly type-cast for a much less flattering role. Her natural tendencies make it hard to give her the respect she deserves. She made a good effort to carry off her role as an intelligent, sensible young lady, but admittedly it was with mixed results. She does portray a very sweet, sensitive and caring woman. And I think she connects with Chris McNally. McNally was solid throughout.
It's also unfortunate that the plot was a bit simplistic and predictable. Still, if you aren't turned off by an actress's voice, it was a nice romance story.
I liked the final sequence.

Really liked this Hallmark movie. I am so happy Hallmark didn't go all predictable as they usually do. Glad they decided not to let him or her hear or see something that is not real and then lose the other person because of their assumptions; this is usually the boring direction of most Hallmark movie.

So many reviews for this one...but what can I say? I like it. It is a cute Hallmark movie that makes you roll your eyes every once in a while, you can't expect it to be perfect.
Chris McNally plays Tom, a boat captain who looks very good in uniform and chan charm anyone. Leah Renee is a high school teacher who wants to save an island iconic to the small town she has lived her whole life.
Things I liked: The scenery, no one can argue with that, that place was breathtaking. We see new faces in this movie, one gets tired of all movies having the same secondary actors. Summer vibe (of course). The soundtrack was great. The aeriel shots and definitely the kiss in the middle of the movie (yes!). Good chemistry.
Things I didn't like: Too many white, camera perfect people. Seriously, diversity Hallmark, ever heard of it? Too many weddings. The typical assumptions a character makes. That cliche simply does not work.
Was it perfect? Nope. Was I entertained for an hour and a half? Yes. It's worth watching.

This is one of the better Hallmark movies lately, and the lead actor has a ton of charisma, but man, that lead actress. What were they thinking. Sure, she is pretty, but to be an actress implies that one should have to be able to act, yes? Her voice is bad, and she just couldn't summon up any ability to carry off her lines. I hope this is her last Hallmark movie. I won't watch another with her.

As someone who has watched lots of Hallmark movies over the years, I was so glad to see one where the story was not set around a winery or a chocolate factory. Hallmark has really over used those scenarios, especially lately. This one was filmed in beautiful Victoria, BC and I was especially pleased to see Fisgard Lighthouse featured in it as well. I have had the pleasure of visiting and photographing there and it really is a spectacular place.
I enjoyed this story a little more since it was a bit different than most of their typical romantic movies. I was very glad to see Leah Renee as the lead actress too. She has been in a few HM movies, but it has been awhile since her last one. She is a very beautiful and talented young actress who conveys a sweet personality in this movie. Chris McNally, who plays her love interest also did a good job and the two had good on-screen chemistry. The story still has some typical ups and downs you see in most all the HM movies, but still kept my interest. I hope Hallmark will continue to produce movies like this one with new and different stories.
I did enjoy the scenery and setting a lot which is why I gave it a 6 and stuck with it. The story seemed somewhat more unbelievable than most hallmark movies. I liked the lead actor although he seemed a bit too casual to be former military. The lead actress's voice almost did me in but I managed to ignore it after a while. It wasn't a total waste of time but there are better movies on this channel.

It's not the deepest story I've viewed on the channel but these movies aren't always about the deep story lines. They are always about falling in love. The ups and downs and everything in between. Its a very nice love story with beautiful scenery along the way. Watch the hallmark movies for what they're worth and enjoy the ride.
This may not be the best movie but, I love this movie because it takes my mind off the biggest world problems for a while. It is light hearted, a little whimsical somewhat. Basically it is a fairytale, but I love it. Sure, the part about the island could be a little deeper, but this is suppose to be a love story, not a movie solving problems.

About Hallmark movies, the word nice seems, almost always, the fair one. In this case it is not. Not for acting, not for cliches, not for predactibility. But for too many weddings, for supporting actors and landscape as only reasonable pillars , for something used again and again who, after a not short experience across Hallmark products, seems good for nap .
Yes, I admitt, maybe it is my fault. A middle age old man can resist less to the waves of romance and very simple stories in which is clear from the first scene. And I admitt, Chris McNally is more than hadsome in uniform and Leah Renee is far to be bad as biology teacher. But the only good point, for me, can be only ...the lighthouse. Real, real beautiful the trip of main characters in its rooms.
So , Hallmark.

Claire Richards (Leah Renee) is a high school biology teacher in a small seaside community. Blue Island is her beloved place and a favorite of her late mother. She has a fishy meet-cute with Tom Hastings (Chris McNally). She is shocked when he turns out to be the new boat captain taking her class to Blue Island. She is further shocked to find surveyors on the island as the town prepares to sell it to a resort developer. She is further shocked again when her ex Jason McClure turns out to be the lead lawyer working for the developer.
I like the story. It's a simple triangle with a dash of saving the neighborhood. The meet-cute is fine. The splash of fish is what sells it. The lead is fine although her voice isn't great. The guy is fine although not that exceptional. There is a little bit of danger which helps the tension a little bit. As a Hallmark romance, this is fine.

For all that people have issues with the main actress, my problem is actually with her character. I feel like her main appeal for the hero was her beauty. Despite her passion about the island, she's just genuinely not an interesting character, and it was hard to feel why she was so important to him, particularly when she made things so difficult. The wedding when she was mad at him? She acted immaturely, and he didn't deserve that. It's usually pretty easy for me to like main characters - even in Hallmark movies - but this one was a dud. I liked him a lot - I just thought he deserved better.

I love Hallmark movies but this one was off a little, did not see a big chemistry between the main couple. The male lead was very good and connected, was not crazy about the female lead.

The story is pretty, the setting is beautiful and the main actor does a perfect job. The leading actress' acting looks force to me. It's not natural.

I found this Hallmark romance to be a little disappointing.
They always say: (regarding film) don't tell us, show us. And in this film, whatever chemistry is supposed to exist between the leads, it is not demonstrated much. Also, the story revolves around an island that is purported to be so beautiful, so it could have been shown more.
Claire (Leah Renee) is on a mission to protect a local island from development when she meets Tom (Chris McNally), who owns a boat. The two do not really connect emotionally until he commits to helping her on her quest to save the island. During this period, Claire attends three weddings, which serve as backdrop for much of the narrative.
Two things I did enjoy were shots of the harbor and the lighthouse location, which was an inspired setting for one of the wedding ceremonies.
Leah Renee's performance was very quiet, which made it difficult to generate energy, romantically or otherwise.

Though it very much follows the standard Hallmark Channel Original Movie template pretty much to the letter this does prove to ultimately be a lovely affair.
For me the two things that make or break a Hallmark film are whether the story holds up and whether the two leads have chemistry, and on both counts here the film succeeds.
Full of nice moments this ends up being a nice way to spend eighty something minutes. It goes easy on the drama, and actually doesn't pander by giving you everything you thought it might.
So if you're looking for a Hallmark film that fits their standard template and is enjoyable enough fare you can't go wrong with this film.

This Hallmark movie has an interesting plot and interesting filming. The chemistry is excellent between the two lead actors as the plot unfolds. Although the plot of Hallmark movies are generally predictable, this one was a few more twists. The scenery is absolute breathtaking and the film score is memorable.

Yes, beautiful scenery, and no, I don't expect Oscar-quality scripts or acting. This is Hallmark, and it's an escape channel at best. With that being said, they went for the "too pretty to believe and really can't act" female lead, and other "poor for even Hallmark" actors. Attention Hallmark - we don't expect much, but the occasional injection of some realism and relatable characters would be a real treat. This film is best viewed on mute.

This film is yet another Hallmark gem. Not only did the entire cast have fantastic chemistry, the script also flowed beautifully; with only a few minor hiccups here and there, it was both predictable and yet not in the best way. Most importantly though, the connection between Tom and Claire was on fire, and developed wonderfully; also, Chris McNally NEEDS to be in more Hallmark films.

Whilst the overall plots in this movie aren't original of course, the final few moments are a bit different to many Hallmark movies. I could totally identify with the leading lady's campaign against 'progress', so I think this movie is quite re-watchable.
