Back in 1985, the San Francisco police discovered videotaped evidence of Leonard Lake and Charles Ng undressing and sexually assaulting young women. This videotape, labeled "M-Ladies" was buried in a paint container next to the cement survival bunker that Lake and Ng built. So yes, this did happen, Ng and Lake are real, they really did make these home movies.

NG was shot primarily on a Panasonic 24P camera which lends a filmic look. However, the interior sequence was shot on a vintage video camera from the 1980s, the same type of video camera used by Charles Ng and Leonard Lake to create the real "M-Ladies" tape. The camera was found at the scene of the crime and we set forth to find one for ourselves in order to achieve an authenticity that post production could not replicate.
